That low gi diet really does help.
I have to now start the journey all over again as we are trying for our second one. But at least I know now what we need to do.

Thank you so much for the reponce. Satrted to look gloomy when I googled it! But hearing great stories it inspires me. I also realized today that I need to go on a Low GI diet! As that seems to be the basis of most of the sucees stories!!!

I have PCOS... didnt know about it. Tried to TTC for 2 years with no luck then finally went to gynie. Put me on fertomid and fell pregnant!!

I don't know for sure whether or not I had PCOS, but I did have insulin resistance issues last year, and my periods disappeared completely for six months last year and I was not ovulating at all, so my gynae said it was a probable. When he tested my progesterone levels last year, they were like zero point something.

I didn't take any drugs (except for some progesterone pills the doc gave me to induce my periods once), and just made some minor diet changes, low GI foods etc and my periods returned on their own in January this year.

And then in March, we found out that there's a baby on the way. Four and a half months later, everything is healthy and looking good....

I was also diagnosed with PCOS. Before we started to TTC, I went to a FS who put me on Glucophage. I was also told to go on a low GI diet.

About a month after starting on the Glucophage, I fell pregnant.

The Glucophage as terrible side effects but it is worth it.

I have only ever read post on this site but I felt very compelled to reply to your post. I know exactly what you going through and the questions you have must be at arms length. I too in 2007 was diagnosed with PCOS and all I did was search the web for success stories of those who have PCOS. I just wanted to know it is possible and that is why I want to tell you about my story. So please bear with my long post. My husband and I got married in 2004. I was never and had never been on any pill and thought okay this is it. We are going to have a baby soon. NOT! two years had past and still nothing but I never thought that anything could be wrong. Then in 2006 we moved from Cape town to Joburg. Still no baby. My periods were very irregular at this time. Not that they would stay away completely but I would skip a month or so etc and everytime I skipped a period I thought I was pregnant. Anyway. It went on like this for the rest of 2006. Then at the beginning of 2007 I knew that I would have to see a gynae and when I walked into her office she gave me one look and told me I have PCOS. I was devastated. This for me meant no baby. She then put me on 500mg glucophage twice a day and I had to see a dietician who put me on a low-gi diet. By the way I was quite overweight at the time and this was because of the PCOS. Anyway with lots of hard work and perserverance I lost 16kgs within 8months. I looked so good but still no baby. But by the end of 2007 I really was not trying hard anymore. I didn't follow my cycle like I used to, didn't check temp nothing. I took everyday as it come. In November though I thought no man I need to get a second opinion and then my colleageu suggested I see her gynae and I could then only get an appointment for Jan 2008. Booked it anyway and it was on a saturday. That december (2007) we went on holiday to CT to visit the family and had an absolute ball. We returned just after new year and boy at that time I was so so tired. Had severe AF cramps and everytime I got a cramp I ran to check to make sure I have some sort of protection but nothing. So came our appointment with the new gynae. He listens to my story and was very pleased that I had lost so much weight. He took me to the room where he does the internal scan just to check that everything is in place and so true as GOD he says so T you are pregnant. I think my husband had a mild heart attack at that moment. Neither of us could believe what we where hearing. And now my little boy is 2 years old next month. The absolute joy of our lives. So I say you can fall pregnant. I know each case is different but I do believe you can fall pregnant if you have PCOS. So from starting the glucophage and dieting till when we conceived, must have been around around the December holidays it took about 9 months. I saw the first gynae in March 2007. I hope this helped a bit!

I will only get the final diagnostics next week, but sounds as if FS believe this to be the probel. Sounds like I will be going for a D&C and labroscopic in the next two weeks?
