Hi,

I suggest you do it yourself. Then you never have to worry if it has been handed in or not.

Unfortunately i was one of the mommies Moms Palace too that got ripped of my hard earned money.

From Dec to date - no UIF payment and im back at work.

Rather do it youself then you know its done.

Mrs S H - I deferred the payment on my vehicle for three months. I contacted the company who I finance my car through, explained my situation, they were understanding and they then extended my payment to three months at the end of my payment period.

Of course I am getting charged interest on interest, so hopefully if I can make additional payment on my vehicle over the next year, I can sort that out.

It was just so that I was not having so many payment pressure over that period. I also contacted my kid's schools and explained the situation and asked if I can not pay fees over the three months, and then for a year after wards pay slightly more on my fees to cover the money I owed.

I have since made the payments up, but it was a huge stress relief to have organised it and not have the pressure.

I think that depending on how long you have had a loan and whether you have serviced it affectively and not been a credit risk, there is no reason why a financial institution will not make a plan, if you just give them the opportunity and the time to do it.

Sam - Tums2Mums are another agency, they charge R400. If you give birth at a medi-clinic, it's R350. Vanessa is very nice. I'm currently using her.

Reluctant Mom - quick question. You mentioned that you defected your mortgage payments. How does that work? Do you simply contact your bank and request it? Are there any obvious or not-so-obvious penalties to consider before doing that? And how long did you do it for?

sam - the agency (choose one that is recommended) is easier only because you actually NEVER have to go into the Department of Labour or call the DOL.

The downside is that the cost is about R550.00 - R750.00 to use them. DOL asks for about 8 forms, agencies ask you to fill in about 30 - 40 pages of information.

So initially you want to scream, but once you have filled in the paperwork correctly and given it to the agency, the problem goes away.

I was shocked at how quickly I got paid - not sure if it is because it was through an agency, or I was just lucky that time around. But I was paid within 4 weeks of my correct paperwork being filed, which was unbelievable!
