Mirena strings - cant feel them

I had a mirena in a couple of years ago. I didn't like it, as I had a lot of pain some times, and went to my gp to take it out. He also put it in - he has ultrasound. I could only feel it the first couple of weeks, and then te strings disapeared. When I went to him to take it out, he couldn't get it out, the strings moved back or watever. I had to get my obgyn to do it in theatre.

I need to know if you can feel ur mirena strings all thru the month. my ex and i recently become sexually active again and something told me check, but i couldnt feel aything, but i did feel my cervix was very low and soft, slightly open, i am wondering if this just means its very close to AF and so the strings are not that far out cause my cervix has moved down or what it could be, but i am a little freaked out cause i have felt them sticking out my cervix before.
