thans ladies,

Huggles our sleep issues started the night that i started with formula. but then i couldnt really pin point it to the formula, cause he was also sick, and also teething. 2 weeks later he had 2 teeth and was healthy. then i started thinking its could be the formula.

i started with simulac total comfort. he had that for 4 weeks. then i took 3 days of no formula and he only woke 3 times. changed to lactogen as people said its spesifically for hungry babies. and i also heard its the closest to BM.
that gave him terribly slyme and made him very constipated.

now i am going to try NAN hypoalergenic one and see how it goes.
i have enough BM for another 2 days, so will start the nan HA by thursday.

i wouldnt sleep one bit if he is in my bed.
but he slept perfectly for 2 months in him room. so i dont think thats the problem

there was just to many things happening at one and i think it was just to much for his little body to handle.
and he is really having a tough time with teething

My son never slept well in our bed (neither did we), it just didn't work for us. But what we did do when we also went through a long period of really bad sleep was to move his bed (he was 18 months old at that point so just moved into a proper bed) into our room and squash it right up against our bed, creating a giant bed. He then slept in his own space, and us in our own space, but right next to each other, within arm's reach. So when he woke up or stirred I literally just had to reach my arm out, pat him a bit, and we all went back to sleep. Much less disturbing to my sleep than having to get up and walk around every few hours throughout the night. And whilst one might worry that it causes bad habits, it lasted exactly 1 year to the day, and then he moved back to his own room - his decision! Now he sleeps fantastically, in his own bed, in his own room.

If all else fails take him into your bed and let him sleep with you... sometimes they just want that comfort at night...

My LG is still in our bed - and she is 21 months old. It was the only solution to us both getting some sleep. Now she happily sleeps thorugh the night, as long as she is with us. And we dont mind... they are only so small for such a short period of time - enjoy it! Soon they are not going to want cuddles or sleep with you... time just goes by too quick.

We have ordered a bed for Morgan as the cot sleeping is just not for her... So praying for an easy transition into the bed. I predict a rough few nights in the beginning but will keep trying. Really hoping for the best!

Good luck with your sleep "training" for lack of better word...

With regard to the formula... both our paeds and the Storks Nest clinic sister recommends the NAN. Have you tried that?

Could it not maybe be the formula that is causing the bad nights? Maybe he's intolerant to one or more of the ingredients.
Which formulas have you tried? Have you tried any hypoallergenic ones or any lactose free ones maybe? those might help the issue if it's the formula causing the problem. I know similac total comfort has very low lactose (or partially digested lactose) which might help if that is the issue. I'm sure there are other lactose free brands as well which you could try. Why and when did you start changing his formula?

thanx for all the links. will definitely try a few things.
with trying out the new formula, things just went even worse, causing him alot of slyme. so will have to change again

Antz, he is sleeping in his cot in his room

Hi Bunnyhugger and StellaK,

This site has been a lot of help to me:>
www.troublesometots.com

The owner, Alexis, also does consults and answers questions, though it will have to be over email as she is not in SA. Her site discusses everything from Cry-it-out to gentle methods and problem solving, and once you have read most of the stuff on there it starts to make sense and you can hopefully find a solution that works for you without having to resort to Cry-it-out.

She also has a facebook group that you can join.

Hope it helps and things get better1
