Crazy concepts also have fabulous sand/water play things. We have one for Dylan and it is great. Costs a fair amount but you would be able to resell it and it comes with a cover and umbrella.

Thanks Claire for the recipe! I am going to try some with Missy although she is probably too young, but loves to squash anything in between her fingers!

PienkFeetjie - ToysRus has the shells, and some of the big plastic shops do too. But R120 at Sportsmans seems a bargain. You'll need to get 2 to cover the sand up - the cats in the neighbourhood love them! They dont last forever in the sun but should last a few years at least.

Just for Kids, www.justforkids3.blogspot.com also has a nice sandpit idea! But its a lot more R'sss.....

PienkFeetjie, if you are a SAHM your daily chores open up a whole range of activities for your little one. My LG loves to unpack my hair stuff, our sock shelves and of course the shoes in the bottom of the cupboard! My room always looks like a bomb has hit it! But I have also taught her to pack back... well she tries!

BTW Claire, did you manage to look at the Salt Lamps or get one? I've decided to make do with just the one I have, and look at getting another one next year.

Don't buy play dough - the monsters just eat it. Here is a quick, fool proof recipe :

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon oil
dash food colouring

Mix everything together with a spoon until well blended, then knead when cool.

You can store it in a sealed tupperware dish and it will last months. Keeping it in a plastic bag in the tupperware will make it last almost forever (well at last until LO has eaten it all )

I saw the shell pool at Sportsmans warehouse for 119.00 I think.
