Sorry for posting in Afrikaans....

of is dit net ek wat so dink?

My biggest problem with this is my sisters 5 year old. (sorry if you ever read this!) They don't have dstv so she only watches it when at her grandparents. She then spends the whole day in front of the tv (a couple of time a week) She gets mad when you touch the remote, when we were eating she was trying to see past everyone to watch the tv. My sister says it only happens there but when they are home the two of them (she has an almost 3 year old little sister) watch dvd's for most of the day (I've seen shrek, nemo etc hundreds of times over and over)

I just don't know, I was a TV teenager and now regret the time I wanted to spend watching TV. My grades suffered and my eyes are shot.

LOL, we have three huge ass tvs, and getting more soon (hubby), but one is left on disney or baby tv and the other on arabic childrens cartoons and the other only on music dvds (Jan de Wet and that kind of kids dvds). The key is to make playing with toys more interesting than tv.....and although the tvs is always on, I hardly ever find myself even watching.

But I dont put on violent things when it looks like she is paying attention....as it might give her night terrors or nightmares. But that is a personal opinion.

I hated kowee in SA!!!!! Would drive me insane!

Thats my biggest problem. We also have a huge ass TV like you do and my husband usually switches it on every morning and it spends the whole day on Discovery. We do have an Afrikaans dedicated kiddies channel but I can sing all the songs already :) B does lose interest quickly when its grown up tv but still I really don't want her to grow up and be one of those kids who spend hours just staring at the tv.

When I keep an eye on her she isn't allowed more than 15min a day (which is all week, but weekends daddy is glued to the screen)
