Its so funny - yet comforting - that they all have the same issues!
We are now beyond that stage fortunately - with ethan his swimming lessons helped him to get over the fear of water in his face.
What I also did when it was really bad was to take him out of the bath whilst his hair was still full of soap and hold him like a baby whilst I rinse the water in the small handtub and singing or pulling faces or generally say silly things - which keeps him distracted

Rhodine, I had the same problem and we solved it by getting T some swim goggles...he loves them, and is so chuffed when he has them on and the water runs over them (we shower with him when it is time to wash his hair)
In fact he loves showering so much it takes all of our cunning to keep him out of the shower when we get ready for work in the morning.
Like Claire said the toys on the floor of the shower is also a great tool of distraction.
T also allows me to blow dry his hair (I am not a fan of walking around with wet hair-and he wont allow me to towel dry it) so I made a game of it. I will dry my hair a bit, then 'Hasie Hok's'/the cat/his dad (whoever else is there)and then his hair in little bits. He loves it!

2 things help for us

A face cloth folded over their eyes - Brandon always complained that the shampoo burned his eyes, so that sorted that

Or I shower with them and wash their hair while they play with their toys on the floor of the shower, so they are completely distracted and don't even realise they have been washed

And as Julz said, try to switch the crying off in your head, so he does not see the worry / panic in your face - this often winds them up even more

Firstly you need to remain comletely calm despite his screaming. Not easy I know but important. I used to sing genly to Dylan. I ask him to look at the light. This makes him tilt his head back while he is sitting up.

Mom of Dylan and Partner to Joerg. We live in the Beautiful Pringle Bay which is along the Whale coast, Cape.

rhodine i had the same hair wash issues and getting water in the face.
what i done was to get him use to getting the face. when we in the bath we splash each other. then i found a buckets with holes at the bottom we play with in the bath.
we fill it with water and let the water over us like a shower.

he is now use to water in the face but that was by playing during bath time.

Thanks GW!! Definatly trying the thing on the ceiling tonight.. shame, wonder how long the dog will stay up there haha - joking.. but that is such a great idea, thanks.

I hope it gets better, I am not sure who is more traumatized by washing his hair, me or him... It is scary...
