Juliet - interesting topic.
I am busy doing a workshop at the moment, and one of the issues we discuss is how women view thier bodies, particularly thier vul.va.
And how - for most of us - we view it as something unhygienic, shameful, and pretty much stay as far away from it as possible.
Without getting into a very long story, the short of it is, that it made me realise that my "sexual script" and the way I view my body, is the one I will imprint on my two daughters, and I have realised that being "shamed" by the fact that we have vul.vas is probably not the best message I can give to my child.
I do not expect my child to wear a picture on her shirt with a vul.va, but I have realised that I need to teach my daughters that the vul.va, like other parts of thier body, is a part of who they are, and is not something that must have the word "sis" or "yuck" connected to it.
I am not sure how to change my "script" yet, but the realisation that it can be better for my daughters is huge for me.
