Hi, Deja
It is a normal phase. But it is scary for us moms to adjust. Close to age 2, they r not growing as fast as they did up to now, so of course their appetites adjust. Plus the novelty of all the yummy foods have worn off.
When E was going through it, I offered her all her meals and for every meal she skipped, I replaced it with Paediasure. We called it milkshake. Erin practically lived on "milkshake" for a couple of months.
It's also important to leave food out for them, so if E didn't want to eat her food and even after finishing a Paediasure drink, I noticed that she would sometimes eat a little bit on her own when she felt like it.
Plus she's been on Nido for a long time, which contains more nutrients than cow's milk. At 2y9m she still drinks about 550ml - 600ml Nido per day.
Try not to worry, ok. Nienke will be fine.
It will get better again soon. Eg for brekkie this morning Erin had cornflakes & Allbran mixed, then we went out for our mommy-daughter breakfast where she finished a pork sausage, bacon, bread and then still had room for a cupcake.
E also lost some weight a few months ago, like Nienke, but she's back to her strong healthy weight
