Hi

We bought a steel jungle gym for our LB when he was very small, think he was 9 months LOL he didnt really play that much with it but we used the swings and helped him hang on the ropes etc.

He didnt use it for a while but when he was walking and running he really enjoyed climbing through the drum and onto the slide (which almost gave me a heart attack every time :) ) But now he is so good with balancing and playing on it.

i think its a great thing to have for kids, his cousins that is 6 and 7 also enjoy it when they come over. Im sure that it helped with his balancing skills to have it from when he was so young.

Jayden has a trampoline, and I never regret buying it for him. But I also want to buy a jungly gym, they are just sooooo damn expensive, and since we live in the middle of nowhere, it would cost an arm and leg to get it from Jhb to us.

My question is, he is now 4yrs, turning 5 in November. Do you think I can still buy him one?

James is only 1 and I have bought the basic set and the modular slide in this system. I will add to it as he gets bigger, but at the moment I have built him a push car that he loves (he climbs in and out of on his own, makes the brrrm brrm noise and loves being pushed in to, plus a separate slide - he can climb up the slide on his own, but I do keep a close eye on him (like the others said)
I have put a swing into one of out trees.

Jungle gyms are great, but its an expense that like the other mention a lot cant be used until they are older, plus then if you move its a huge mission, so you would leave it behind.

I think jungle gyms are great for kids - if they use it and there are climbing ropes and monkey bars it is great if they use it a great deal.

I personally would opt for it when they are a bit older than 18 months. For me 18 months is still a bit too wobbly on their feet to get up on the high area.

My daughter took a tumble off the high level of the jungle gym as she was just too wobbly, and landed head first into the ground - fortunately it was sand, so it was fine, but it could have been worse.

I really like jungle gyms for kids, but I do agree with Julz, than 3 - 4 years up would probably be more comforting for me.

I might opt for a smaller wooden jungle gym, and then arrange that the company return in 18 months and add the higher extension ... I know some gyms can be bought in sections and you add to them as your child and budget grows.

We would love to get one for Dylan but he is just too crazy (2.5) and I would prefer to wait till he is 18. Kidding. I think you could get one at this age, but it would mean you standing there helping her the whole time. Even at 2.5 Dylan is nowhere ready for me to sit next to a jungle gym and for him to play alone. I am thinking 4 is a good age. Maybe. I guess it also depends on the Jungle gym and the child.

Hi,

Im thinking about buying a wooden jungle gym at the end of the year for my LG.
Just wanted to know if anyone has one and what they think about it?
Has your child had any accidents?
What would be a good age when its safe for kiddies to play?

My LG will be 18months when i plan on buying it.

Thanks
