My 4 year old niece had hers removed about 3 months ago - recovery was surprisingly easy and fast. She was so excited about the fact that everyone was going to give her ice cream and jelly!! Mommy was more scared than her definitely. Its only been 3 months, but she keeps telling us how her throat is not sore anymore - she had a permanent sore throat (quite literally)!!

My eldest was removed when she was 3.5 years old. Best thing we ever did for her. She ws always sick but after that op she is now hardly ever sick.

Hi,
I know exactly what you're going through.

Our lg started at 18 months - thats when we arrived in SA - with her first ear infection, then tonsilitis and it just carried on.

I tried everything. Paed kept on saying to take out her tonsils but I didn't want to hear about it. But hers had had it, a big swollen mess in the back of her throat!

Finally at age 3 she had her grommets put in and then at age 5 she had tonsils and adenoids removed.

We have never looked back and I wish I'd done it sooner.

Good luck

I have 2 little girls and we living in Hong Kong.

Hello there,

I havent gone through it myself, but I have 2 very close friends who have. Both of them have sworn that it was the best thing they could have ever done for their kids. One of them is now 10 I believe and he hasnt been seriosuly ill since the op.

So my advice would be to do it ;-)

Good luck!

Doctor has recommended that I remove Xaden's tonsils as he is getting an infection almost every month now . I'm a bit nervous though as doctor said it's best to do after 5 and he'll be 4 next month......oh what to do I'm really between a rock and a hard place right now.
