I find his list of most common underlying feelings when a child misbehaves really helpful:

Maryka, this was also an unusual way of thinking about crying. My idea was it was acceptable for a child to cry x-amount of minutes and then the child must "stuff it in a box" or cry somewhere else if he still wants to cry more.

This book was written by a psychologist who is a "play therapist" who works with children who are having all sorts of behaviour problems etc. I think his methods will be frowned upon by many,
since he doesn't believe in ANY form of punishment, bribery, incentives. He believes children needs firm guides/borders, but to do it in a fun way and using the child as part of the solution to the problem and to forster emotional inteligence. I am very excited to use my child in this experiment! So far, I have had more success with my 2 year old implementing his techniques opposed to a more "stern"/serious/firmer approaches.

I am totally surprised by the success of using humour and sillyness.

Thank you Gloeiwurmpie, it sounds like a great book. I really like this part about not shooshing your child when she wants/has to cry. Very insightful! I think I should get hold of this book.
