Thanks for all the info ladies, I just want to be prepared. My girl is not showing any signs of dropping a nap, but she also has no routine at the moment! So I don't know what to expect.

Thank you for this post, Jacadebra! I think my daughter is trying to do the same at the moment and I was wondering if it could be the case so early cause she'll only be 1 this Saturday. Will try what you suggested.

Most kids I know only did so around 16-18 months. My daughter however started taking 1 nap only just before 12 months. When I saw she was trying to drop a nap, I just tried to help make her nap a bit later..bit by bit so she didn't get to cranky late afternoon... and eventually her naptime settled on somewhere between 12 and 1. Once every month or so she might have a 2 nap day, but then she woke up a lot more at night or something else happened. I just follow her cues.

I have not dropped Luke's morning nap at all - he is 14 months old and still barely makes it till 10am in the morning...

I have dropped his afternoon nap cos he refuses to sleep in the afternoon, will drink his bottle and then scream to get out the cot.

So at 2pm, he goes to his cot, has a bottle and after about an hour he is taken out cos he starts getting niggly!

I agree with 1st Timer. My boy is 21 months will be 22 the 12th and he dropped his afternoon nap about 7 months ago. He prefers to sleep in the morning and then play in the afternoon and off to bed at 20:00 the latest.

I must add, my child is hiper active, so his awake times is much longer than some other kids. 5-6 hours

Every child does differ, but yes normaly from 13 - 15 months they tend to drop either the morning or the afternoon nap, some prefer to keep both naps. Lucky moms :) A bit more quiet time for them.

Hi Frankie. My son is 14m and is just dropping it now. Most of his friends also dropped it at 13-14m. Babysense says at 12-15m they should be awake 3-3.5h but I find James quite easily does 4-5.

Personally I would only take away the morning nap if your child is impossible to get down in the afternoon or if bedtime is too late for you on 2 naps. If James does 1 nap he is in bed at 6/6.30. If he does 2 it's closer to 7/7.30.

Every child is different though so follow her cues.
