Babyshoes,
I can only echo what all the ladies have said.
However, I found it worthwhile to do some reading regarding age appropriate behaviour and how to handle it.
I found that most of our parents (now grandparents to our children) uses the only methods of dicipline known to them (remember, not many books and studies in those days around). If I had not done some research on the topic of parenting, I probably would have done exactly what my parents did to a certain degree.
All they knew was how to scare the living daylights out of a child so that the child will obey (in most cases). It works beautifully if you want to raise a robot who can't think for himself or develop an emotional moral conscience. But there is another way.
If you would like a different approach I would recomend the following books strongly:

Any of these books will change your outlook on parenting as they all share the same belief that to raise an emotionally, self confident, free thinking child you need a different approach from the traditional authoritarian way.
This is a very difficult age, since you have to supervise everything as they can't understand your reason yet. Therefore the parent has to take the reigns in their hands and remove a child from a dangerous situation without dubbing the child as naughty. This is really frustrating and tiring! It gets even worse as the get older.
It's great that your LO is such an explorer, apparently a sign of inteligence!
Best of luck!
ps: I also had to have a talk with my mom asking her nicely to respect the way we choose to "dicipline" our child.
