Potty training...?

I don't think 15 months is too young at all. I have always found it easier to potty train children before they get to the stage of saying 'NO' to everything. At 15 months they are more likely to want to please mommy most of the time. You don't have to do intensive potty training, but do start introducing your child to the potty or big toilet so in a few months time when they are wanting to do their own thing and you want to potty train, it isn't a foreign thing to them.

My 15 month charge asks to use the potty and often takes himself there and sits down and says 'wee wee wee' and we havn't been 'potty training' him at all. He just copies us going to the toilet, listens when we say things like 'your nappy is wet, you made a wee' etc.

M y daughter is also 15 months, but amazing she does say she wants to pee. when i put her in the potty she laughs and seat still. I think she has a clue but just doesnt know how to let it happen naturaly.

She always hears the brother saying i want to pee, and she says the same too. I will potty train her in summer when it is warm as she can also differentiate between no1 and no2 when i change her.

Start when they show signs of willingness. I used to take dylan to the bathroom when I needed to go so that he understood what it is we were doing etc.

I also put a small potty in the bathroom when he was about 18 mnths old and he would sit on it now and then.

If you want to use the main toilet do so. Dylan is quite short so he needs about 10 steps to get there, but he actually climbs on the regular toilet now and then by himself and when we are out he is happy to sit on a normal toilet.

Do what works for you.

I think Ive seen a potty-liner (like nappy-liner) somewhere that would be handy. not keen on cleaning the potty!

Una has predictable bowel movement, unless if she's constipated.
as soon as she wakes up she'll make a poo, wen you remove her nappy for bath time she'll pee, so I hope we would use that as guidline to get her on the potty.

Not a fan o forcing kids into anything, so will give it a try and see how it goes.

I am trying to get my LO to use the toilet straight from the start and not the potty.
A few moms here on moomie said they had success although some kids seem to be scared of the toilet.

So far my LO has had a few "hits" in the toilet so far (now 26 months).

It is best not to try and potty train in winter if possible.

PS: I have read that if you push your toddler to potty train before they are ready you can actually delay the process...but when your child is ready, you can do it in a shorter time span.
