question-circle How to say bye bye without any tears

Yes, very true about the sneaking out part.

Try your best to look happy and relaxed when you say goodbye. I know this is hard when your child is screaming the roof down, but they pick up on your emotions too and if they suspect you are anxious about the goodbye, they will think there is reason to be worried as well. THis is of course easier said than done.

ladies,

thanks for the advice! Will find a 'special' way to say bye bye and stop sneaking out!! I will ask her nanny to accompany me out :) And yes i am normally also very anxious when I have to leave and that might also be the cause of her tears!

She'll be starting day care soon so want this sorted before she goes there

Awwuuu Angel's Ma... I know the pain :(

The Gals have said it all. Don't sneak out on her, she must know that mama has gone to work. Its normal for kiddies to cry for their parents, she will get better with time :)
She will master even the words you leave her with "mama will see u later". Soon she will be the one telling you "see you later mama".

Whenever I'm dropping my son at Daycare he used to cry hysterically, but now he is now the one telling me "come back mama?" **meaning - are you coming back mama?. This is because I always tell him that mama is coming back for him afterwork. This creates problems though when his daddy is around coz he refuses to get in his car when he is the one picking him up. I think because I say I will come back for him, if I don't come back for him at Daycare then he will never see me again :(

As painful as it is, keep a straight face :) :) :)

Thanks for the advice ladies. I also have this problem at the moment. But this morning, the nanny walked with her outside to see me to my car and help me put stuff in the boot & she didn't cry. Unlike when I leave her at the door or in the bedroom. Also gave her a kiss and said "see you later" etc.

Thanks for the heads-up about sneaking away leading to insecurity. I've tried that but it just broke my heart thinking about how she will feel when she realises that I am gone & I didn't even say bye and re-assure her that i'll be back later.

Shame, know the feeling.

What I normally do, my mom looks after Ewan during the day. She will take him outside and I will tell him that mommy has to go work but will see you later. Then she will walk with him to a certain point so that he can wave good buy to me as I pull out the drive way, as soon as the car is gone, he knows mommy has left, but it is fine, she will be back. And that is what my mom also normally tells him. Then they look at the plains, birds, dogs anything, just to get his mind at ease.

Agreed, that sneeking out is not wise.

Good luck.

Hi Angelsmom.

Nadia is right. When i had to start leaving my LB at creche, he would also cry etc. The teacher suggested giving him a kiss, hug and then say Bye mommy will see you later okay, or what ever. I also tried to be happy etc, beacause they can also pick up if you are upset or worried.

It is never easy.

Good Luck.

Hi Angelsmom..

This is never easy. My suggestion would be to kiss and hug her and then tell her a "line" that you will use everyday such as "I'll see you later" or something similar and then walk away.

Do not prolong or delay.

Also dont sneak out as this can lead to insecurity.

Good luck
