He is 3 1/2 which is why I thought maybe growing pains, but as per the article Julz posted (thanks Julz) I don't think that's it as it is all day, especially when he stretches his leg out, or goes into a crouch.

It only started yesterday, so I will just keep on massaging with arnica for a day or 2 and then take him to the doc.

Does he have pain when he moves. If yes then he may have pulled a ligament or muscle. He should maybe rest it. (ya sure).

Growing pains occur at night.

You could give him some ibrufen, but if he has injured himself it may mask the pain which could could then lead to a more serious injury.

I suggest you give it a couple days and if he still has pain maybe take him to the doc.

Try a heat pad.

As far as I know I think growing pains are felt more in the knees.

how long has this pain been there? How old is he? Perhaps wait 2 or 3 days (with using the Arnica) and monitor it. If it gets worse and even if it's not at all better after 3 days then take him to the doctor just to be sure.

If he skates around the floor then more than likely he just pulled a muscle slightly and it'll get better quickly enough. But if he starts limping or if it starts bruising or anythign just seems wrong then take him to the doctor just for a check.

Brandon has been complaining that his leg is sore - where the upper leg meets the groin area. There is no bruising or swelling, but he winces if you press on it.

He does "skate" around on the wood floors in his socks, so he might have hurt himself there, or pulled a muscle.

But does anyone know how to tell if it is more serious, or how to tell if it is only growing pains ?

For now I have rubbed some Arnica gel on
