Hi Kittycat,

I would leave him at tte school but maybe try collecting him at 10.30 for a week? See how he is there then try 11 for a week, then 11.30 etc and build up to a full morning. Most playgroups are quite flexible with this sort of thing.

Also speak to the teachers. Is he happy at school? Is he eating? How long and when does he nap? Hang in there - sometimes it just takes a few weeks for them to settle in.

Kittycat if I recall you are in Paarl? If so I remember you had enrolled your lb at Bridge House. Is this the school he is at now? Just curious as I was thinking about it though I've probably left it to late. What's it like?

Hi Kittycat

It sounds like you have had a lot of changes over a short time period. I think kids at this age are very sensitive and as such, he may be reacting to all the changes in his environment.

I would give it a bit longer and then see how it goes. Maybe try collecting him at different times and see if you notice anything strange also.

Have a chat to the teacher and explain all the changes and ask her to keep an eye out for him.

And give him lots and lots of extra hugs and love till he adapts... they are resilient and sometimes it just takes time!

Maybe also just take him back to paed for a follow up to ensure that he is healthy and feeling well..

Good luck

Ai shame man. In my opinion. I would rather get a nanny for the meantime, just so he can ajust to all the new things around him. Then after a year or so, try the creche again. I am sure if he can be around his own stuff with a good nanny, things will get much better and his conficence will grow as well again.

Good luck.

Hi All
I am in serious need of advice as I am starting to get sleepless nights over all of this..
We just moved to a new house -new town -
I came to this town already 3 months prior to our move to try and find the best "playschool" for my 2.5year old boy. I went to about 7 places, and chose the best one in my opinion..(and also got good feedback from other mothers)

He was quite happy in his previous playschool going from 9 till 12:30 daily. Im am saying "quite" as he had his days of resistance when dropping him off, but overall it went very well and he was rarely sick - just a runny nose sometimes..normal...

Now I am in the situation where my boy is crying EVERY morning for 2 weeks now when dropping him off.. crying when he sees me when i pick him up (???) and basically cry the rest of the day at home, and being in a exeptionally bad mood..(have to add that he has a cold for a month now, even still after going to the pead and meds)

They insist that he is napping at school, but for me he looks dead tired every day when I pick him up at 1 o clock! I tried to put him to bed after getting home, but he refuse to sleep (as he might already took a nap indeed.. his talking is not good enough yet to tell me whats exactly happening at school)
We also just moved him to a normal single bed as well, and its going very well, although he wakes up screaming some nights.

I have no idea what to do.... I know everything is new and different and that he needs some time to adapt(and that he is semi sick!) , but I have a very unhappy boy in the mean while...
Funnily enough.. when I pick him up he always looks like he is enjoying himself, never cries, until he sees me, and then he starts to cry..!

Should I find a new school? Or should I give it more time? (I have a business from home and I can just as well close my business if I cannot have a couple of hours a day to work, as he is distracting me too much!)
Maybe I should get a nanny from who knows where (!), and try the "school thing" again next year.
As he is an only child, I do think that a half day school is good for him!

ANY ADVICE would be SO much appreciated, as I am just getting more confused by the day and blaming myself for making the wrong decisions!!!
