Shame good luck!
I decided not to get the Chicken pox injection..as its better to get chicken pox as a child and the best immunity against Shingles later in life..
Since chicken pox vacc..more people are getting Shingles..so rather go through this now, to get shingles is not fun!

Also if your immune system is down (as you say just recovered from the measles) you are more prone to Chicken pox..
Good luck for the next few days!

Thanks. To be fair my clinic did tell me both of those. I just thought that if he did contract it, it would be milder but he is COVERED in spots poor child. And more importantly - we are now quarantined for the next 10 days. Which means serious cabin fever for me! And he has JUST recovered from baby measles. Argh.

Yup what they dont tell you:)
1) the vaccines can actually cause the disease
2)The vaccines arent 100% effective (eg BCG is only 75% effective and I think the varicella vaccine is about the same)

Look at it on the birght side though, the chicken pox vaccine only gives about 10 years protection, so you need a booster. Now actually having had chicken pox, James has much longer protection:)

Anyone have a toddler who got chicken pox after the vaccine?

My 18m old has had a relatively high fever for the past few days and then today I noticed 2 or 3 puss filled pimple spots on his cheek. Could this be chicken pox? He has had the vaccine but I would have thought chicken pox woyld result kn lots of spots all over the body?

Will take him to doc on Monday if he's still feverish but just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience?
