Sarah, I think you would make a great day mom!!

Go for it, you'll be full before you know it.

What you charge will depend on what other places in your area charge for a similar service, and on what you need to cover costs and survive.

Good luck!

Daymom PTA East was created by Sarah
Hi all

I am considering being a daymom from next year. I am currently an aupair and homeschool tutor to 3 little munchkins, but they are moving and I cant move with them :( I have considered other aupair jobs but also looking into being a daymom. I am a qualified and experienced pre-school teacher and aupair (over 10 years)

I'd like your feedback on my idea please?

Ideally I would be available from 7 - 12, but happy to work till 5 if that is needed. Cooked breakfast provided if arriving before 7:30am, snacks and cooked lunch provided daily. Only 3 - 4 children between the ages of 1 and 3 years accepted so it is a small intimate 'family'. I will have a monthly theme and activities will focus on the theme, but we won't have set 'sit down and learn' times scheduled, rather we will learn through every day experiences. We will do painting, drawing, playdough, building, running around outside, feed the chickens, work in the veggie garden, puzzles, some Montessori activities, dress up, dance, cuddle up on the beanbag and read stories etc, just like I've been teaching for the past couple of years and all 'my' children have learned their shapes, colours, numbers, names, letters etc without being formally instructed. More structure and educational activities than creche, but not as formalised as pre-school. Ideal for mommies who want some social and educational time for their children, but not at the expense of being a child and being allowed to play - especially true for boys who are a lot more physical and aren't usually ready for formal schooling as early as girls.

I would consider adding babies at a later stage, but will have to get someone in to assist specifically with them.

Would this be something that mommies would be interested in? And how much would you be willing to pay on a monthly basis?

Thanks!
