Thanks Blompotjie. She does have a nightlight in her room but yes I also suspect she might suddenly be scared for whatever reason. Thought of putting a mattress next to our bed but a bit scared of her wondering off while we are sleeping- as much as we have tried to baby proof our house she is at the age where she is a hazard to herself if left to her own devices for even minutes, lol.

Shoe, sounds like she is a bit scared of being alone. Maybe you can try and make a bed on the floor next to your bed with a night light, or try the night light in her room if she does not have one. They do get to a stadium that they get night terrors and can be afraid of being alone.

If you opt for the bed on the floor, just do it till you can see she is ready to move back again at night, but let her sleep in her room during the day in the holiday, just to show her that it is not all that bad.

Also have a checked out at the docter, sometimes they have a small infection you don't know of and this could also trigger crying and wanting to be with mommy in bed rather.

In the end it is a guess guess situation, but hopefully some of the above can help you solve it.

Good luck :)

Moomies, I need your help.

My lg turned one last week and has slept in her own cot in her own room pretty much since birth (waking up a couple of times a night when she loses her pacifier or whatever but falling back to sleep soon thereafter). We have very occasionally in the past let her share our bed when she is sick and cranky or if she wakes up early on a Sunday morning and we still want to lie in for a bit.

This past week, she has decided that she WILL not sleep in her cot and refuses to sleep anywhere but our bed (and with one of us holding her). She stands in her cot shouting with a frightened look on her face. We put her back down in her cot and she wakes up screaming and cannot be calmed.

She has a good bedtime routine (bath, bedtime story, last bottle, bed) and I am not aware of anything in the past week that has changed in her routine. She naps as normal duiring the day, both at creche and at home.

Hubby and I do not get any sleep with her in our bed at all as she is a very rough sleeper, tossing and turning in all directions and kicking, punching and head-butting in her sleep. So co-sleeping is not a long-term solution.

How do we nip this problem in the bud? We tried some kind of controlled crying it out this past two nights (i.e. let her cry it out for five minutes, go to her room, try to consol her without pciking her up and leaving) but this just ends up in her getting so distraught that she cries until hoarse and phlegmy and practically choking.

Any ideas?
