I keep a potty with me in my car at all times. And i usually get Leandi to make a pee pee in the car (on the seat) on her potty. Thats what works best for us coz i hate public bathrooms!!!

Good luck

Claudia_B, I don't have advice, but just wanted to add that my LO is the same regarding public bathrooms. From a baby she would freak out.

I remember reading somewhere that it is a common fear among toddlers. I can't remember the advice that was given, if I am not mistaken, try and avoid them untill they are a bit older?? Not sure.

@nicolette, he is def ready because at home, and even at friends houses he will happily go to the toilet, he just freaks out with the public bathrooms - and strangely enough he has always been like this, even as a baby he would get upset if I had to take him into a stall with me to wee:(

Hi Claudia I can't actually help you, but just wanted to say two things. 1. Children tend to potty/toilet train when they are ready. 2. When I first took my little girl to playgroup, the teacher (who is very experienced) said it's best not to do half nappy half not, as it just confuses them. But I don't even know what to suggest with you, because he sounds ready, but scared of the actual toilet room?! Hopefully someone else will answer now that I've bumped it up to the top!

This is kind of 2 questions. My lb is "half" potty trained. He goes to the potty independently on his own at home and is even dry overnight nowadays (although I still havent gotten up the courage to let him go nappyless at night because cleaning oodles of linen does not appeal to me, but seems to be wary of public bathrooms. If we are out he will say he needs to go, but if I go into the publuc bathroom he kinda freaks out a bit and refuses to even go in the door. He is better in places where the baby changing area is separate and will at least let me take his clothes of and put him on the toilet - but even then he wont sit still for long enough to actually go. As a result he then has accidents (which is why when we go out I still put him in nappies - which he hates and cries when I put them on) Any suggestion as to how I can help him get over this fear (when he then wees/poos in his nappy he get very upset and tries to take them off regardless of where we are....)

My second issue is underwear. My hubby got 2 pairs of underwear in the UK for my tiny tot which although big at least stay up and James is so proud of them. I cannot find underwear anywhere that is small enough for him (he is tiny - I found cloth training pants in woolies sized 12 - 18 months and they are so huge that they fall off. I know woolies used to stock smaller sizes, but I cant find them anywhere. James is small for his age (height and weight he sits of the 10th percentile) and is pretty much wearing 6 - 12 month shorts (He has a giant head, so tshirts he is wearing the appropriate 18month to 2 years) Any suggestions?
