file Wearing clothes - terrible 2's

Thanks everyone!

I've pretty much tried everything, but last night I dressed her in j's and even though she was very upset, screamed for about 20 mins, I just hed her and wouldnt let her undress. I guess I just have to show who is boss.

Flowergirl, Missy used to get dressed, or bring different clothes, a few times a day! So it was not always like this! we're going through a lot of other behavoural issues or pushing boundaries, so i guess its all normal.

Abigail, I gave up worrying what she wears, even if it is the same pj top for days on end, its something....!

She used to want wear something if Nana had bought it, it became a joke because I told her Nana bought just about everything, DH commented that he has also bought or paid for some things, LOL.

Then i tried that her friend has the same, or this school friend likes this... doesnt work anymore.

She's picked out her own things at the shop... and even though I wasnt too keen on characters, she went through a phase of only wanting Princess, hello Kitty, even that isnt doing it.

Nicolette, one morning I said she could go to play group without clothes, and her friends would laugh, she was actually excited!!! So i wont do that again.... But maybe I should take her to a friend or something like that. A long time ago she was fighting me and we drove to the shop without a shirt on, but it really was ages ago. I might try this again...

Jay, good luck with the shoes!

Else with winter coming soon, I'm just going to force her to wear clothes from now on......

Oh my  is this what I have to look forward to :woohoo:

mommyN - I really don't have any advise. Although, I wouldn't mention "boys" laughing at her. In my mind, that may be creating a sexual awareness - I wouldn't want to taint their innocence at 2 years old!!

Maybe if you took her to a shop and allowed her to choose whatever she wanted and then let her choose her own clothes to wear - make it exciting??? Or if she likes a character, like princesses or Barbie or Barney or whatever, maybe you could get her some character T-shirts and maybe she will wear that????

Oh boy, this is a tough one. At the moment, I am lucky because my child is incredibly vain and LOVES getting all dressed up - not sure how long this is going to last for though - she is now 19 months.

Good luck!!!

My daughter is exactly the same. She loves being naked and I leave her over weekends, only insisting that she wears a panty. I battle to get her dressed weekday mornings. She sometimes insists on wearing her pyjama top to school. I'm all for letting her choose her own clothes but there's no ways I'm sending her to creche with her pyjama's. Then at times she refuses to put the shirt, pants or panty on that I took out for her and then chooses her own shirt and then it does not match the rest of the outfit!!! So at times I just leave her as there's not always time in the morning to try and get her to wear what I picked out. Summer is still fine but I'm starting to worry about winter - there's more to put on in winter and if summer is such a battle, I don't know what winter will be like

Hi MommyN - My two and a half year old little girl will only wear a tutu and ballet shoes. It's terribly cute - and I've decided this is a battle not worth fighting. But I suppose this is different because at least she wears something. Have you tried just taking her out naked - to a friend's house or somewhere appropriate - and really doing it - not just threatening. I know my daughter wouldn't like that at all.

A few months ago, i had the same issues with my boy, if he goes to the toilet when he comes back he has no clothes on, i tried, the shouting, letting him choose his own clothes, girls will laugh at you, nothing helped us. What i did every time he undresses i dress him again, he did this for a few months, he has stopped with clothes, it's the shoes now. So give her time, when she does undress tell her that boys are going to laugh at her she might get dress.

My 2 and a half year old little Missy is refusing to wear clothes! Thought I would threaten and say we going to play group with no clothes - she loved the idea (!), all started at the beginning of summer when I started potty training her and we left clothes off, but now its a bit too much. Started bribing and threatening her, but 2 mins later her clothes are off!

Its a nightmare which ever way we try things, coaxing, threatening, screaming, pleading! And she is a typical 2 year old, so there are so many battles to fight at the moment! :-(

Any tips? Any other terrible 2s doing the same?
