Hi, My lg (21 months) was doing the exact same thing. we were scared she might swallow the dummy pieces in her sleep (it was torn and tearing) so DH took her to the bin and explained that it is broken and dirty then threw the dummy in the bin.

She asked for it a few times, i told her daddy threw it in the bin because it was broken. She said, yes, broken, bin. :)

We now on 2 weeks without it :cheer:

For me that was a sign that he was a big boy, we let him use the broken one, until he decided it was too ugly and he threw it away on his own. And everytime he asked for it i would remind him that you chewed it and it's in the rubish bin, he eventually forgot it.

My LG did exactly the same when she started teething her last molars. I'm also now weaning her off them. I give her an old dummy thats a bit smaller for sleeping, but no more dummy during the day. The smaller one is a bit more difficult for her to chew as well.

My son has chewed through 3 dummies in the last 2 days. I've actually left him with the broken one and am hoping to use it as a transition to no dummy but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue? Just wondering if he is teething or something weird...
