Only reason I did it so sooon was because she had to be potty trained for pre-school this year otherwise I would have probably also done BLPT - baby led potty training! :P

I saw this show where this women had potty trained her 18 month old, but she was a SAHM and the baby was at home too.

She literally lived/ate and slept walking around after this baby with a potty for weeks, until the baby got it.

But that seemed a tad extreme for me, and also a bit unreachable based on my patience and resources, so unfortunately I will need to keep contributing to the state of landfill sites for a few more months.

But I am wildly jealous of moms who have young babies nappy-free!!

When I first started potty training Jade, I used to carry her seat with me so if she needed to go, we found a toilet quick and she went... Sometimes on long car trips etc I put a nappy on her.

How I began was I spent the whole weekend at home with her last October when it was starting to get warm. Put all the mats away and she basically spent the whole weekend with no pants on and I had bought her pretty little panties that she ran around in. I asked her every 30 minutes whether she needed to go and sometimes just too her if it had been a while. She got it right sometimes but mostly not. I spent that weekend cleaning up alot of pee but everyday she got better and better.

I think you can start if your daughter is ready and you are ready, but I would start at home, and still use nappies when you go out as a back-up.

As you never know how long it will take to get to a bathroom, and you do not want to stress your daughter while out.

My LG is 2 yrs 1 month. I am also not sure on where to even begin. Im scared that I might be really confusing her at this stage. She wee's in her potty a few times a day when she feels like it. But otherwise wears Nappies full time.

Im just not sure that Im ready to throw the day time nappies away yet. Shopping trips must be awful!!

I struggled with my son, as he was getting too old for nappies, but was still wetting the bed, so that required a totally different approach.

I tried to bribe my daughter that we will take her nappies away on her 3rd birthday as she was such a big girl!! She told me clearly "no" - but a few months later, she said that she was ready now to have no nappies at night.

I did a start chart and said if she had a dry bed for 5 consecutive days we could go and buy a baby doll for her.

Took her two weeks and she was sorted.

But I let both kids sort of initiate it themselves. I really did not "toilet train" them, but let them motivate the process.

I know a lot of moms who do really good potty training early, I unfortunately am not one of them.

LO is 2,4yrs now and he's fully potty trained including at night. He just started waking up by himself one night and never stopped. Before that we would wake up with dry nappies since he was about 19months. This was after we stopped the night bottle (at about 17months). But to try to make sure that he doesn't need to wake up often and go to the loo we give him only a little liquid after 5p.m. and none at all between 7a.m. and 7p.m. But sometimes he does ask for some water before bed time and if he persists for long enough I give in thinking he must be really thirsty but NOT at night,as RM said "the kitche closes at 7p.m." He can hold his pee well at night and first thing in the mornign he shoots off to the loo. So yeah, that's how we did it.
