Also, try putting him in underpants or totally bare bum at home as much as possible. As soon as you put a pull up on they know it's a nappy so don't bother to go to the toilet cos it's easier to just go in the nappy.

It is not uncommon for children to train only closer to 4. Very normal. Don't compare and push a child that is not ready! Trust me on that one.

I have heard that schools can be be forceful with potty training, not that I am saying this is the case with your school. In a school situation they tend to do what the group does and it makes it easier for them to co-operate.

Be patient, it will happen when he is ready! Good luck

Ps: my LG was trained during the day closer to 4 and she is still using a night nappy - all doctors I questioned were not phased or worried at all. It is our mothers who often have this idea if another child trained at 2 years why can't mine? Children certainly develop at their own pace and that is normal.

somone please tell me what i am doing wrong, my son has been potty training since Jan this year, he is turning 3 in november and and still hasnt fully gotten the hang of it. he wears the pull up nappies but if i dont randomly ask him to go pee he just does it in his nappy. his daily dairy from daycare states that he does his business in the potty during the day but i just can seem to get him to do the same at home

The nursery school will start this week with the potty training. E (also turning 2 in Nov) he tells me but when he is on the Potty he does notning, but will Pee in the Bath, and telling me. Poo he tells me afterwards. His teacher said they will give it a try, but with no pressure. If they see he is not ready they will leave it. I remeber with L I took nappies away on 30 months. Never used a nappy since then. I want E to be full potty trained during summer.

Does sound like he's definitely understanding what's going on. My son turns 2 at the end of October so our boys are very similar ages. The creche are going to start potty training my son pretty soon, as soon as the weather warms up. However, what I plan to do in the meantime is as much nappy free time as possible. Next Tues is a public holiday, and I don't work on wednesdays so I have taken the monday off. For those 5 days (saturday to wed) I plan to use no nappies. Will only put on for nap and bedtime, all the rest of the time he'll be nappy free. I'll leave the potties out and encourage him to sit on them, but so far our biggest obstacle is his refusal to actually sit on it.

I figure every time he sees and feels himself wee'ing or poo'ing it'll help him realise that the sensation his feeling results in wee/poo etc. The more he understands that sensation the more he'll learn to recognise that it's coming.

So my suggestion for you would be loads and loads of nappy free time.

Also, does he ever see you/hubby on the loo? We are very open at home so logan's almost always in the bathroom when one of us are using the loo. The best way for them to understand is to see, so if they see that's where you wee/poo then eventually they'll figure out that that's where they must too.

Maybe also buy a book explaining it? I haven't done that yet but really should. A simple childrens story.
