I do not have the strength for sleep training, I just hate seeing him cry but I think he is ready for it because sometimes he goes to bed by himself and he absolutely refuses to sleep in his cot and then he takes half of the bed.

I am tired of being abused by that child, I am moving him into his cot come hell or high water

Dylan goes down at 8 since last summer and it's too late so we are reducing it back to 7.

The babysense book advises no later bedtime than 6:00 or 7:00. I would also gradually move the bedtime earlier. If possible, try moving the bath time to before bedtime at night, it really calms them before sleepy time.

Julz, thats what I was also thinking, he's bedtime is very late, make sure that when you put him down for bed, he gets the message that it is time to sleep, like switch of the lights, no loud noises or such things that can stimulate him. he should also be having a longer nap during the day.

Shame girl I feel for you my son also has his days when he just refuses to sleep and I will just sleep and leave him there till he falls asleep, but thats just me being a bad mother.

The routine is okay but consider feeding him earlier (maybe drop the 4 o clock snack) and then feed him at 6 and bath him at 7 and try and get him down by 8 rather. Reduce the time gruadually each night by 10 min. He may be sleeping later because he is overtired. Tired kids don't sleep well.
