Gold Reef City Theme Park & Animal Farmyard

I would love to visit Gold Reef City ... but it's too far away from us!

I was there about a year ago and def dont think it worth that amount of money + some of the other activites inside you have to pay extra to see or do. It has become a tourist experiance rather than something for the locals.
I am sure you can spend that money on something else worth while.

Joli thank you for the reply - very informative. Let me check out the zoo website and see what their rates are. My LO is turning two and loves animals so I guess the Zoo will be a suitable venue too.

Gold Reef City is very nice for the kids and yes the entrance fee is worth it, but you must remember that you won't be able to go on the adult rides if you've got kids with you although you will have to pay full price, so it's either for the kids or the adults if you know what I mean. I wouldn't take kids under 2 1/2 there either. It's hard work! And for a b/day party - it will be hard to keep all the families / kids together, unless you are willing to get together to cut the cake etc. and then let everyone go all over the place to do what they want. I once had a b/day party at the zoo which was nice. I booked the bus and they met us at the entrance. I took the cake and everything with and once there, they take you through the zoo on the bus and stop at different places and give a little talk about the animals. I took a cooler box on the bus with drinks and all that and some chips and so on and handed that out during the outing. At the end of the trip, when we all got off the bus we cut the cake etc., had some snacks, handed out party packs and then everyone went their own way. Worked out nicely.

Has anyone taken their LO's to the Goldreef City Theme Park & Animal Farmyard? What was your experience like? Is it worth the R140 entrance fee? I'm thinking of having my LO's birthday party there.....
