file I did the 4th birthday on a budget - R485!!!!

I have to say this whole kiddies parties is a whole new world for me and one that I do not want to venture into anytime soon. So for both birthdays I simply invited family, because at this stage these are the people Ethan really enjoy and love to have around. At two kids only really parallel play. But when I do have a proper party next year or only maybe the year thereafter I will most defnitely do it in a low-budget way, making most of the stuff myself - which is fun anyway - and let them enjoy old fashion play - because why oh why must children "have entertainment". When you are child, being a child IS entertainment!
As for a cake - I bake them myself and while they may not be works of art - they are fun to make.

Wow this party looks GREAT!

My son turns 5 on the 1st of September. Im sooo short on cash as my baby due on the 10th of September but need to have something as I dont want my son to feel he birthday was not just as important as before the baby :)
Its also our holy month of Ramadaan so everyone fasting and making use of the holy month for things other then parties. So we having it closer to the end of September. We decided to take 6 kids (INCL THE BIRTHDAY BOY) (all which are his nearest and dearest and about the same age) to Jimmy jungles for a mid morning play and then to spur for lunch B) this all totals +- R600 (excl party packs which I will keep really simple as there are only 6 of them it should not cost too much either). A cake I will make to take along.

This just works out so much better for me this year no mess in the house and we not taking any parents along so I dont have to cater for any adults. (this also being the reason we chose the selective few kids).

Last year I paid R500 alone for the jumping castle  so I learnt my lesson on the home parties untill I can really afford a cool one...otherwise I will just have to make use of Amandalynn-3jLorelai-3m great party idea!

Kiddies parties can just too much sometimes!

Step 1:
Dont have a theme, decide on the clolours you will be using, pink, purple, white & silver.

Step 2:
Amount of kids

Step 3:
Cake - get your mom or a friend to make it. or order it is easier.

Step 4:
Tables chairs & Decor. Have a big table with the cake on it and a smaller table that the kids can reach with a bowl of chips and maybe a bowl with cookies. make simple sugar cookies and put icing on, like i did with the wands. put table cloths over tables.

Step 5:
Entertainment
Kids dont care. it will be summer, so get a jumping castle with a ball pond, so kids of all ages will love it. also get about a 100 balloons. blow them up and leave them lying around.
Also take your kids toys and pack them outside so the kids have things to play with. you then dont have to buy anything.

Step 6:
Food for the kids. if its over lunch time, make a hotdog for each childs. put them on the table with the chips & cookies. dont even buy cups and plate, its a waste of money.
go to a cake store and buy mini cake boxes, use them for the paty boxes. also buy oros juice bottles 1 for each child. buy the halls juice that you can pre make so when the bottles ar empty you can just refill them. buy puck bags of sweets without wrappers and fill the box. do not buy party favours.

if you need more help. scream!!!!

wow that is awesome, my daughters birthday is in december and im already stressing on what to do, i did not throw her a party on her first birthday, just my sisters who insisted i do something for her so i bought only cake and cooldrinks , and they bought the pressies, she was too small to understand what was happening.

so this time i want her to enjoy it, im planning to have it at my grandma's place in durban as most of her cousins leave there and around, so its gonna be great fun for her, i just dont know where to start, i cant even cook well, nevermind baking.

im almost too frightened to start organising it! :( im thinking of having it on the 26th december.

wish me luck! :cheer:

Amandalynn-3jLorelai-3m .... thats a mouthful

You & your mom are so clever to make that Hannah Montana cake. I have been looking for a Barney or Cars cake & some people are ridiculous with there prices... On average I will have to pay R 400 for a cake  I think I will try to make my own cake.... and the pretty icing & decorations make the cake look much prettier.
