Hi Paisley

Thanks for all your info!
Im super stoked it worked for you after just 2 months!

My friend is definitely ovulating and doc will scan her before AI date, I guess if that doesnt work initially they may resort to stimulation.

Seems her gynae is also doing the necessary tests and she'll only go in for AI to the FS. If that doesnt work initially then I think he'll refer them to the FS for it all.

How much did you pay in the end?

And do you still hear from Sunrise at all? She was also going for AI a few months back?

Girly,

Thanks - we are sooo very blessed. I heard of your miracle via skapie as well!! God is great!

Morphology is the shape of the sperm, yes. DH had 5% normally formed sperm.

We went to see the dr. on CD10 (he could see one nice big lil eggy). His reaction was: 4% Morphology, 90mil sperm - why on earth are you not pregnant yet. He felt that we shouldn't have a problem conceiving on our own (because of studies done). So i think from point go he felt that there is something on my side that was missing - or not investigated.

But with Dr. Pentz - it is standard procedure to do ovarian stimulation to up the chances of success. I would definately recommend the ovarian stimulation, as I read up on the sucess with meds and injections, and it was far higher than without.

So... DH and i then discussed the situation and did our planning and came CD1 i gave the dr. a call, and we started the procedure right away.

What helped in our case was the fact that EVERY test in the book was done by my gynea. (FSH, LH, Progesteroon, LAP, HYST, SA, Full blood count etc etc...) So there was no need to run any extra tests - which saved a lot of time!

So if your friend has had all the tests done, and she sees the dr. for a day 2/3 scan and they can make a discision within 2-3 days, she might still be in the running to get the ball rolling this cycle - but it is unfortunately highly unlikely though!

Hi Paisley

Praise the Lord for your BFP and I'm so glad to see things are going well with you!

So just so I know - morphology - is that the quality / shape of the sperm? Think its the same as DH. Average fertile man has 15%, he has 4%.

And you managed to conceive on your 2nd try - this is great news!
Did you have any fertility issues that they gave you the trigger injections, or was it just to make 100% sure they could control when O would take place?

How soon before actual AI did you see the specialist for the first time? She is currently waiting her AF out but I think they would miss their first month then? Gynae already gave fertomid to start taking, 25mg but they'd want to have everything prepared and dated in advance?

And lastly, including all medication & scans, what did AI cost you?

Thanks so much!

Girly,

Even though quite emotional - our IUI journey was definately something I would put into my memoirs.

With DH morpholoy of 4%, my gynea and urologist reccomended IVF with ICSI... After we consulted with Dr. Pentz at Kloof he suggested IUI. I was glad, but not very hopeful.

I was on 50mg fertomid for 5 days, and 3x Gonal F injections and both cycles formed 3x follicles larger than 2.2cm. I did not really have moodswings - just really really heavy hot flushes! After the IUI i was put on uterogestan the first time around, and cyclogest with the second one.

After our fist iui I had "implantation spotting" on 8dpo... the implantation spotting turned into AF - which directed the doctor to a previously uninvestigated problem - LP defect, and with IUI nr 2 i was put on very high dosage cyclogest. AND PRAISE GOD - this time... A bfp on 8dpo.

I had a month of rest between each cycle.

I further have a 26 day cycle, and always ovulated on day 12 - which stayed the same with the iui. It is however EXTREMELY important that your friend knows her cycle (if somewhat regular) as this is a good indication for the dr as to when to do the follicle scan. So 26 day cycle -14 day LP - 2 days for trigger to work meant that I had a follie scan on day 10 as well as a cycst scan on day 2/3. I had no other blood tests ( i know some dr's do it throughout)...

So my cycle worked as follows:
Day2/3 - Cyst scan
Day 3-8 - Fertomid
Day 4,6,8 - Gonal F injections
Day 10 - Follie scan and trigger
Day 12 - Uiu
Day 13 - whenever: Cyclogest

I hope i answered your question somewhat!

Hello ladies!

I need some advice for someone I know please.
She will be doing AI in the coming month, just found out today that its going to be the best way for them to conceive.
I've learnt a lot from you ladies who have gone this route before, but if I can give her some idea of what to expect.

Will start fertomid on day 3 , dh put on staminagro, and will book appointment at vincent pollati (?) for the treatment.
What goes into AI, from start to finish, what are the chances of conception, moods from the pills, etc etc.
Anything that could enlighten them of the journey ahead.
Gynae says to try for 3 months, then a month break, then another 3 months, and if still no success they'll have to look at other methods.

Thanks so much!
