ICSI cycles Oct - Dec 2010

Hi Gonzolina,

I have been for my first round of IVF in October at Aevitas Clinic in Cape Town that costs R 28k. This was the ICSI and my husband's biopsy.

Please tell us a bit about your journey.

My first IVF attempt failed, everything went well to the end, the embroys just didn't latch after transfer. I am going for my next IVF cycle in December.

I have had a very easy first attempt, and all went really well. We just got good news from the start, so I was very excited. The meds are not that bad, after a day of two you get the hang of the injections. The staff at the clinic is well trained to assist you with anything you need to know.

As IVF is the only way for us to fall pregnant, I have to make the best of it and deal with any negative emotions that may come m way.

I just went through an unsuccessful cycle.

You can go back a few posts and read my journey, but the cost came up to R29K. I'm with doctor Hogewind at Kloof Hospital. He's been great so far.

Would you like to share your journey leading to the decision to go with ICSI?

Oh Kiara, I'm so sorry to here.

Please please please don't lose faith.

Motto: change everything you can, and accept things you can't change in life.

This was one thing you had no control over, and you need to accept it. It is hard, but the sooner you deal with the emotional part of it, the sooner you can move on.

Your dream is to become a mommy, and the same as for us, we have to do IVF. Therefore we need to accept that we will stand to face these kind of emotions and let downs. Just remember that one day, I hope very soon, you will have your BFP. Just keep trying.

Someone told me that IVF was like rolling dice, the more you roll, the better the chances. I know we all want to fall pregnant first time due to the process and the financial implication, but it doesn't always work out that way.

Just remember nothing you did or didn't do ended up in BFN. This is one thing we can't control.

How are you doing? Anything in prep for the IVF? A lot of ladies I chat to did acupuncture and it worked for them...
