Hi,

Thank you for the reply. I am still in the self try fase, I am waiting for my results to see if I did ovulate this month on my own ...

The doctor has not checked my tubes yet, said I must stay on clomid for 4 months and if I do not get pregnant he will do that test. So I am not sure if there is something wrong with me or not

Hi Aletta1

It depends on why you are taking it - i.e. for IUI, IVF, or just assistance. There are different protocols, so it depends why the dr prescribed it.

I was on Fertomid (generic of Clomid) for 2 cycles from day 3 to 8, for IUI. I was also on Clomid for 1 cycle (day 5 to 10) for unassisted (self-try :-) )

On my first scan (day 10 or 11, I think) there were 3 or 4 follies, but later they stopped growing and only 1 properly sized follie remained. For IUI, they will not continue with the procedure if there are too many follies (risk of multiples etc), but for IVF there can be more because they do the egg retrieval. If you are on "self-try" assisted with clomid, then also there shouldn't be too many follies - 1 or 2 is ideal!

Good luck! I'm holding thumbs for your BFP soon!

Thank you so much for the reply. My hubby has an 4 year old girl from a previous marriage so he has not gone back for a test. I have gone for the blood test this morning to see if I actually did ovulate this cycle on my own. I did last month after receiving the ovidrel injection.

We have been trying for more than 6 months now, I have also tried in my previous marriage before he got sick but never went to get tested.

Aletta it is normal to only have 2 eggs. They often cancel a cycle if there are more or at least sometimes advise to skip the month as multiples often have fewer life births and usually result in a high risk pregnancy with good chance of preemie births. Not ideal.

2 eggs are great. That is all the fs or gynae wants is to see one or two eggs that ovulate and then you are half way there. It is only for IVF treatment that they will want more eggs so for now you are doing really well.

Has your husband had his sperm tested? This is vital as up to 50 percent of couples have male infertility so no real point in you using clomid each month when there could be other issues that you are unaware of.

If hubby has been tested and is fine and you are ovulating then I am sure it won't be long. You would usually try for 6 months on clomid before taking a break.

Apparently 80 percent of women who are on clomid and ovulate will fall pregnancy within 3-6 months which probably seems like a life time to you, but you are on the right track.

Hi,

I am new here and not sure exactly how to follow and all of that stuff.

I want to know if it is normal just to have one or two eggies after taking clomid or have you ladies been more sucessfull?
