Lindy- I am A- and DH O+ so i had to have the antiD too. If you have a successful pregnancy (which I'm hoping you will soon) then you will need an AntiD at 28w and again within 72hrs of the birth.

The rhesus 'disease' as they call it which sound awful, should not in anyway affect a first pregnancy because it only becomes a problem IF a + baby's blood comes into contact with the mothers - bloodstream such as with MC or birth so your first MC can't really be pinned on that. Your second MC possibly can IF your 1st baby was a + but again you can't be certain that it was. But agreed they should've given you the AntiD in case.

Once you concieve a healthy embryo and you get past they usual MC cut off (around 12w) you should have no further reason to worry especially not that it's the rhesus.

I carried my 1st born to full term, my twins were prem but nothing to do with the blood group.

and then after everything all 3 of my boys are O- which is really un common to have all 3 children with the exact same blood group and a neg at that because negatives are rare in comparisson to +

Lindy the anti D injection should have been given after the first miscarriage as if you fall pregnant with a baby with a positive blood group, your body sees it as a foreign thing and attacks it. with the help of the injection - the body accepts the baby and doesnt fight it off. so yes, perhaps you had a 2nd miscarriage since u did not receive the injection after the first one.

now that you have received the anti D - you should have more success keeping a pregnancy (but only if the cause of miscarriage was from your body rejecting the baby cos of a positive blood type and not something else like genetic problems)

sorry for your loss and hope the next one is successful for you xx

Hey there thank you so much for the reply. Luckily there was no bad smell it was just apparently "old blood".
I opted not to have the d&c as it was still very early days.

Because I am negative my hubby is positive, do u think will we have trouble conceiving or carrying to full term? I am so worried as this was my second mc

Lindy if its like a very dark red / brown colour it could be the products of conception coming out. Did you go for a d&c or given meds to MC naturally?

If there is a foul smell / any pain I would call your gynae.
The injection they gave you is to prevent your body from building antibodies to + resus factor in the future, which is necessary if the mom is - at the time of birth.

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Hi ladies,

I have been having a black discharge since Wednesday last week and don't know how normal this is  ? Please help.

I am so paranoid :S as this has been me second miscarriage. The Doc gave me a Anti-D injection on tuesday. So hopefully that will resolve the problem....if that is even the problem. I am O- and my hubby is A+ and apparently I was suppose to have the injection after my first miscarriage?
