Hi Wannabmummy,

I have read some of your other posts and my hart goes out to you :( the fist dokter we went to was also terrible and not really interested in helping us, this really put a damper on things so there has been no real effort from DH since then. I have finnally been able to get trhough to him so that he hets we are not alone and he is not the first man with a low count. I now have him on Staminogro and back on a healthy eating planning with regular gym. We will see the FS in January as we fist want to go for 3 month with him on stamonogro and they healthy diet and me on FolicAcid then retest the count so that we have all the facts together.

I really wish you all the BABY DUST in the world and please know that you have won half the bettle by beeing stong and seeing the FS. This is the first step

Good luck please please keep us updated on what is happening :)

@ Butterfly, and @ Hopeful...

Welcome... from a fellow newbie :)
I am also TTC but I know I have PCOS. I am planning to see a gynae this month to start actively TTC with/without meds.
I have lost some weight in the hope it will help, but no luck yet...
From my experience so far, knowing is better to an extent, but it could make you depressed at first. Thats what happened to me. My first doc was horrible, and made me feel incompetent as a woman. It's been 2 years and I can now only say I am ready to see another doc!
All the best in your journey.... may you be blessed soon

Hi Butterfly,

I am also not Moomie and just from the past few days that I have posted and others posts already gave a a scence that I am not alone on this ( what feels like a never ending ) journey. I know how you feel I also put off getting tested as I was afraid of the ruslt. evntually I just could not take it any more and we went. It turns out that there is problem with my DH sperm count and that is the reason that we have not jet been able to fall preganant.

I can say from personal experiance that it is less stressful to know than not to know. The uncertainty killed me and made every thing so much worse. I will lei to you and tell you its eisier when you know but what is better is YOU KNOW and you can start working a plan to fix what ever the problem may be.

Only you can make this discion but moomie is here to support you no matter the results.

All the strenght to you :)

Hi Butterfly

Stress is the last thing you need and my advice will be to go and find you a gynea that you feel comfortable and trust. If you not comfortable after the first visit go for second opinion but the sooner you go the sooner you can start relaxing or starting treatment if needed.... good luck to you take care!

Hello butterflybaby

Welcome to moomie. Not sure quite where to start, but I will try to explain a few things.

Firstly we are all different and while some women fall pregnant really easily, others might not. It can take up to a year for a healthy couple to fall pregnant. This is assuming the couple have sex at least 2 or 3 times each week throughout the month. Your egg only lasts for about 12 hours , but sperm can live for about 72 hours so technically there are few days during the month where you can actually conceive.

If you have had the odd unprotected sex, it may just be that you have missed the window of opportunity, however if you are having regular unprotected sex through the month for many months then there may be a small issue.

Ideally you should see a gynae. Mostly because it is really important that they do a pap smear to check your cervix for cancer, but also because you would like to have a baby and experience tells me that isses left usually result in more complications.

Male infertility is increasing, some say it is due to men being willing to be tested these day. Regardless of what the reason is, the fact is that so often the women goes through so much trying to find out what is up with her that the couple fail to have the husband tested. The male fertility tests are very basic compared to some of the female tests. A good gynae will make sure hubby is tested before putting you through some of the more invasive tests.

Lastly your weight could very well be an issue. I know that many women fall pregnant who are overweight, but a low or high BMI is known to cause issues. I am in the industry and we us the BMI marker in screening potential donors.

Lifestyle changes are very important. Smoking for both man and woman is less than ideal. A healthy diet is key.

These are all things one would want to change for your child's sake anyway so now might be the best time to start.

I wish you all the very best of luck and please see a doctor. There are so many good, kind doctors out there.

Hi and welcome to moomie.

I am no expert in this field, but I am sure some other moms who struggled to conceive will give you some advice.

I think that if you have been having unprotected sex for years then it is probably time to see a Dr, especially since you are so young, I think they usually say if you have not fallen pregnant after a year of trying then the Dr's will run tests to determine why.

rather go and find out, I think the wondering is probably worse than knowing, once you know what the situation is you can start to deal with it.

good luck
