Hey 1st Timer
Shame bummer on your AF arriving. So frustrating.
I also have PCOS. I may be wrong, but from what my FS told me is that you shoulnt give someone with PCOS clomid and not monitor the follicles. PCOS is a hormonal disorder which means your system doesnt have all the necessary quantities of hormones to trigger all the processes needed to fall preggers.
My first gynae gave me 3 rounds of clomid and never monitored and it actually did more harm. With PCOS you can still ovulate but the quality of the egg/s being released could be very poor. SO in fact having a positive OPK doesnt really help.
My advice would be is to ask to be checked while taking clomid so you can see if in fact your follicles are producing correctly. The other question is, on which days do you take clomid? Again this can also greatly affect the follicles. For someone with PCOS you would rather have less follicles that mature than have more follicles that are immature. Usually if you take clomid from day 3 you get more follicles but less quality. For me I took from day 5 and got less follicles but more matured.
When I did my first round of clomid with my FS in Jan, he monitored me very closely. When he did the first scan he could see I didnt have enough FSH so he gave me injections which helped to mature the follicles. Once they got to a nice size, he scanned again and when he was happy then we did the trigger shot to make sure the follicles were released.
I don't advise staminogro for your hubby. Its expensive and not really that effective. If you want him to take something, let him take sperm-i-prove. Its about R80 for a months supply and your med aid will pay for it out your funds. Its a multivitamin so wont do him any harm. If you want better quality eggs then take the staminogro. I took that for two months and it did improve my follicles. The fact that you are on multivitamins is great.
If you have any other questions, i can gladly help (from personal experience). but I really would advise that you ask your gynae to be a bit more aggressive. PCOS is not something you can just play around with.
Take care
