Hi Tyra,

Yes I agree you need to get a full evaluation of your test results and the plan forward. I mentioned before that stress (conscious and unconscious) has an impact on the reproductive organs. So just say that your FSH and LH is high it is not fixed - you can do some things to address this before embarking on medical treatments. From an Eastern Medicine perspective stress blocks the energegtic flow leaving the reproductive system too deficient to function at its potential. Acupuncture would address this; On the mental and emotional side hypnosis addresses conscious and unconscious issues that might be causing stress. Stress also constricts blood cvessels which can also result in insufficient uterine blood flow. You need a nice healthy thick lining to your uterus so that if/when you do conceive the embryo can deeply embed and attach to your uterus.

Hi All - hope everyones well..
i would just like to share - got our results today and hubby's seems fine however pathcare was nice enough to give a reference chart to compare his results to, however for my test they where not as forth coming :) . So for my test result I got a 10.1 for my FSH test (CD3 test), does anyone know whats the recommended score?

I've been searching the net and have found that 10.1 is a slight notch above the recommended 9 or 10 benchmark, however it was also noted that different labs have different tests & benchmarks and considering that i got this info off a few american sites i thought id rather check in here and see what your experiences was?

my DR never called with the results i just got an email with the results and figures from his secretary.

Hi all thanks alot for all your input and advice
I've been to the Dr ,and he started me on tests today.done my CD 3 test just now,(fingers crossed) And will be testing my husband's count this Saturday.
However ive also been referred to a gynea to get a dye test done - to see if my tubes are open.
Im a bit relieved now,as the uncertainty is driving me insane :headbang: - at least im on my way to some answers now.

thanks again!

Hi Tyra,

The average time it takes a woman to conceive is around 6 months. The problem you have right now is that you are getting worried and stressed and the more you worry and stress it will have an effect on your hormones which will affect the functioning and condition of your reproductive organs. I fully agree that you might like to ask for some tests now; However, you need to also be cognisant of the fact that 90% of infertility is unexplained so they might not actually find anything wrong and you just need to be patient.

Apart from the stress of trying to become pregnant you need to also look at your lifestyle - stressed and overworked? Overweight? Smoking? Drinking? Relationship Problems? Perfectionism? These are all factors that affect you and your partner's fertility.

You might like to consider some mind/body approaches - acupuncture, hypnosis etc. which will bring your body into a state of harmony and balance.

Hi Tyra, welcome to moomie I am sure that you will find the answers and support here that you need.

This is a double edged sword, one of my friends was about 25/26 and it took her 8 months to fall pregnant with her first one and only 3 months with the second one 2 years later

Then there is myself and my husband I was 23 when we started to try to conceive now 3 years later still nothing. I also waited a year before speaking to my doctor and it turned out that my DH has an extremely low sperm count and we will never be able to conceive a baby naturally and to this day I wish we had tested sooner.

What I guess I am trying to say is if you are worried insist your doctor does a few basic blood tests and check for cysts ( the first blood test they do is a test on CD 21 to check if you ovulated ) if this is normal they usually move on to get your DH's sperm count checked. If the ovulation blood test comes back negative he will probably send you to a Gyni straight away. If your DH has a normal count great if not the first step is to see a Urologist.

The other side of it though that all tests come back looking good don’t stress to much then it might just take a litter longer for you :cheer: ( I know that is not comforting )

The big thing here is your peace of mind so insist with your doctor to at least do the bloods tests.

I know how scary this all sounds, but believe me the more you know the better choices you can make. If you are Afrikaans speaking join us on the "eenige sukses met vrugbaarheids pille" not all the ladies there are on fertility meds and it’s simply a support group. If you are English speaking there two active threads on the TTC thread where I am sure you will feel right at home.

Good Luck and lots of baby dust
