Chanz, I feel i could relate to your post and just wanted someone to talk to who i could relate to. I have PCOS - Diagnosed when i was 18 and had a large cyst removed.

I have just had my first IUI on the 12 June 2015 (Gonal f for 18 days, triggered on cd18 and IUI on cd 20) I know it was quite late but my follicle took long to reach the right size, it eventualy did o CD 18. I had 3 good size follies - 18mm, 19mm and 20mm. I had sever cramping the morning of my scheduled IUI - the nurse said it was a good sign.

Currentlly on Utrogestan (progesterone suppositories) . Started from 2 days post IUI. I am now 11 days post iui and dont have any notable signs of the IUI being a success. Please help with some feedback.

Nevashni, I am curious with which Fertility Specialist are you?

I don't believe IVF is the only way for you. What meds have you tried other than the clomid? Do you do gonal-f injections, trigger shot etc...???
I have VERY bad PCOS and with the help of the best fertility specialist in Durban Dr Sagie Naidu, we conceived both our son and our current pregnancy via IUI. My hubby has sperm issues. And even with just a medicated cycle and having intercourse at home we couldn't conceive. IUI worked for us. With this current pregnancy I fell pregnant on our second IUI and with our firstborn our first IUI worked.
All I can say is that with PCOS everything has to be done to the last detail. If a dr doesn't cover all the bases then you can't just move onto IVF. It's very expensive to do IVF and although it has higher success rates than IUI it's not the answer for everyone. It also depends on how far you are prepared to go and if you have the finances readily available for IVF right now.
Before we saw Dr Naidu we were told we would never be able to have kids. And Dr Naidu made our dreams come true. With this current pregnancy I was on femara since clomid didn't work in our previous IUI. So give femara a try if you want.

Goodluck and you are welcome to ask any questions :)

Hi Nivashni

I dont have a success story with IVF or know of anyone with PCOS that went for IVF but I too have PCOS - I was diagnosed in January this year. My doctor gave met Fertomid (the generic of clomid) in May but it also did nothing for me due to my PCOS.

I will be going in for a lap as well as Ovarian drilling on 5 June - My doc said that the ovarian drilling will help for the clomid resistance. Once I am well again, she will be starting me on Femara and Menopur. I have heard and researced that Femara works better for PCOS patients and that a lot of woman with PCOS do not stim on clomid/Fertomid.

Good luck!

Me: 30 (PCOS)
DH: 31

TTC: Since September 2012
May 2013 – Fertomid - no follicles
June 2013 - Laparoscopy and Ovarian Drilling
Aug 2013 - 2.5mg Femara and Ovidrel (homeplan) - BFN
Oct 2013 - 2.5mg Femara, Menopur, Ovidrel (homeplan) - BFN

28 Oct 2013 - Move to a FS - Dr Johan Pentz

05.12.2013 - Femara, Gonal F, Lucrin - IUI - BFP 18 December 2013 Beta 127..So blessed!

3.01.2014 - first scan 6 weeks 1 day - one perfect heartbeat.
14.02.2014 - 12 week scan - absolutely perfect and all going well.
10.03.2014 - It's a little girl!

Hi.
I am 32 years old and am seeing one of Durban's top fertility specialists. We have been trying for four years to have a baby but have been actively (with medical assistance) from June last year.
In Feb I had a lap and damaged tubes repaired. I just came back from the doc this morning and after 100mg clomid, I have still not ovulated. He informed me that my PCOS is very resistant and that IVF is most probably the only way to conceive? Has anyone with PCOS had a success story with IVF?
