Fertility Specialist in Northern Subs, Cape Town?

My Gynecologist is also a Obstetrician and he said that i had to take a Progesterone test after my unmediated cycle. It looks like I ovulate on CD14 which is 6 days after my last Fertomid pill (days 4-8). The Gyni never suggested any other tests like U/S during my medicated cycles only a Progesterone test.

Thanks, I really hope that I ovulate too on the "break" un-medicated cycle. Maybe its a good idea to wait next month and see how my body reacts without the Fertomid and then take it from there.

In my experience I think you should just try and book with Dr Slabbert. I had to wait a month to get an opening for my first consultation, but there after its not difficult to get appointments. First consult was around R1300 if I remember correctly. Imo thats not expensive. He'll do a thorough checkup on you and spend a lot of time explaining things and options going forward.

After 3 rounds of Fertomid its recommended that you take a break for 1 cycle, which is what he told me to do, so its likely that you might be due to take a break too. What I've found though is that the Fertomid from the previous cycles still lingers (hence the need to take a break) and I normally ovulate during the 1st unmedicated cycle (but not there after), but later than usual. Would be interesting to see if the same happens to you. My gynae also prescribed 50mg Fertomid to me at first, but after my first monitored cycle with Dr Slabbert, he upped the dosage to 100mg. When I started doing IUI recently he added more medication (however its the type of stuff where you need close monitoring).

Thank you for the info. I have all my test results as well as my hubbys SA results too.

I am on my fourth and final round of Fertomid and still no BFP. My Gyni is so busy that my next cycle when I wont be using Fertomid I will be on my own as only seeing him in August

If I am not pregnant this cycle do you think I should wait another month to see my Gyni as he said if no BFP after 4 cycles of Fertomid he will refer me to a FS or should I just go ahead and book an appointment with Dr Slabbert? How much is his consultation fee as my medical aid does not cover it?

I really don't want to "waste" another month when something can be done

Definitely Dr Slabbert at Panorama. In my opinion he is an excellent doctor and I know of other people who would totally agree. I've been with him for over a year now and he did my laparoscopy earlier this year.

My gynae referred me after 3 cycles of Fertomid, however I don't think its a requirement. Would be good if you could get all your test results to him (either if you have it, or your gynae sends it over to him). He may also ask you to do more tests. In our case hubby haven't been tested so he asked that we do that before our first visit.

Hi Ladies

I am currently seeing a Gyni in Louis Leipoldt and on my fourth and final round of Fertomid 50mg and still no BFP and hubby has been tested.

My Gyni is always so fully booked so was wondering if any of you know of a good FS in the Northern Subs area? Does a Gyni have to refer you to one or can you go directly to them and do I take all my test results and charts with me?
