They are indeed little monsters, @Mommywannabe. I experienced that last month - tested almost the whole cycle, from CD 10, and no smiley face for me. Was so dissapointed. I'm also now on Fertomid/Clomid, just like you were after you didn't get your smiley face on the OPK's. I'm following the Sperm-Meets-Egg-Plan, which entails BD every second day from CD 8 (we actually started on CD 6), and once I get the +OPK, BD for three days straight, then skip a day and give it one more try. I am also on Inofolic and Fertivor to help with the lining and CM etc. Holding thumbs for our first BFP this month!

Congrats on your pregnancy! May you have a happy and healthy 9 months! I will keep you posted!

Hi Anzel,

I would also like to know..........!

These little OPK's are tricky little buggers. Let me tell you I used them from day 10 until I received my period and I never used to get a dark line. The FS said I must start from day 12 but I wanted to make sure that I cover all the basis. Nothing happened that month

Then the next month I used Clomid 100mg and tarted with the OPK's again and no dark line but we decided to BD from day 10 and that's when I fell pregnant.

Good luck with the little monsters.

HI, @Jooste

Thank you very much for your response! I feel so much more at ease. My FS asked me to use OPK's for a few months to see if I ovulated or not, before we see him again later this year. So I'm holding thumbs.

I tested with FMU this morning. I also read that you should not actually use FMU, but test later in the day. The problem, however, is that I drink almost 3 liters of water a day - it is extremely hot in Upington at the moment. We are experiencing a heat wave of 45 degrees maximum, which sometimes peaks at around 50 degrees. So I take in a lot of fluids. I am afraid that this might cause me to not have a +OPK?? What I could do is drink my fluids until about 2pm, then limit fluids so that I can test later in the afternoon?? Would that work?

I will be using 100mg Fertomid and OPK's for the next four months (this current cycle included). I am also using Fertivor to keep the lining and CM fluids enough to ensure implantation, if I conceive.

So, if I will ovulate later, I assume I should test until I get a +OPK? Or until I run out of tests?? lol! My FS said I should start testing on CD 10, which I did. Was just freaked out because the line was so light. I don't really know what I expected! LOL!

Me again!

Some books suggest you test between 10am and 12pm to detect your surge. Others suggest you test between 10am and up to 4pm. I usually got mine anything from 12 in the afternoon until late evening.

Keep your urine in for as long as possible (at least 4 hours before testing) and do not use FMU. Also, try not to drink too much fluids before testing. You want a concentrated sample to test for LH.

Yes, you are a little too early to expect a +OPK just yet.
Remember - we have some LH in our systems at all times (so you will see very faint lines during your cycle at various intervals). However, you want to detect the surge of LH - which takes place about 24 - 36hrs before you release your eggie.

It is great that you start testing at CD10 - just to make sure that you do not OV earlier than what is expected...but I think you will only start seeing a true +OPK around CD13 - CD14. And...then that would mean that you will OV around CD15 - CD16.

REMEMBER:
For a true +OPK the test line needs to be JUST as dark or darker than the control line. A faint line is not indicative of a +OPK.

During the 4 cycles when I used Clomid, I only got my first +OPK on CD14 and once even on CD16.

Good morning, ladies

I need your help. I'm using OPK's for the second month now and still find them very confusing. Last cycle I did not ovulate at all - No smiley faces for me  . Then I was asked to use Fertomid 100mg in an attempt to get me to ovulate - I used it from CD 3 tot CD 7. I am on CD 10 today.

Here are the pictures from the OPK I took yesterday evening, CD 9, and the one from this morning, CD 10.

CD 9:

CD 10:

This much I know from these pictures: I am still not ovulating... The LH surge is not big enough to indicate ovulation. There might be a slightly darker line in the picture from CD 10?? :pinch:

My question is thus the following:

Based on the fact that I took Fertomid 100mg from CD 3 - CD7, does the above tests, which are both very very very faint, indicate that I will once again, not ovulate this month? Or am I in too much of a hurry? I know they say that Clomid can delay ovulation with a few days and that I should continue with the SMEP plan until I get a positive, but it is so hard to be patient. I want to see that smiley face. :P

FYI - I am using ClearBlue Digital OPK's, which has not yet given me a smiley face. Once they are done, I have two boxes of Clicks brand OPK's cassettes to use (They were less expensive).

I am also on Inofolic and Fertivor supplements this month.
