hi Tezzy
yes please join our TTC 2018 group lots of support and advice and lovely ladies
Ok so firstly if you haven't yet I would advise on doing monthly home ovulation tests. A lot of ladies go for the Clearblue digital ones they are R250 for a pack of 10 at dischem or checkers do a pack of 5 for R129. A bit pricey but good to start checking. if you have a 26-28 day cycle standard then you will prob ovulate around day 14 so if I were you start with that.
Also I would definitely see a gynae and do a few fertility tests - they will do blood test to check your LH levels to see what time of the month you ovulate, then 7 days after they see the LH surge (which means you'll ovulate in 24-48hrs) that they will do a progesterone test to make sure those levels are satisfactory. Also your other half needs to go for a sperm analysis this is very important. Not the nicest thing for them to do but hey us women have to go through a hell of a lot more haha!!
Unfortunately it is pricey but if you are already trying for a year at our age (i'm almost 36) its definitely good to do a few tests. Where are you based? I am in CPT and have been seeing an amazing fertility specialist who also removed my endometriosis 2 months ago, he is expensive but so worth it as I had a terrible experience with my other gynae.
a bit about me, I am 35 and we have been ttc for almost 2 years. Hubby sperm is like super man my FS says haha, and all of my tests have come back fine so on paper there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to fall pregnant. I do suffer from endometriosis though (first gynae missed it during keyhole surgery told me i prob just have IBS!!) hence why i sought second opinion and my current FS found severe endo. That was in August so we are hoping it is not long till we conceive. Its been a long hard road but so many of us in the same boat so don't feel shy to ask when you have any questions or need advice!!! If you are in CPT i'll tell you who NOT to see though dont want anyone else seeing this woman!!
Good luck and hope you get a BFP soon! go and get some opk's and start testing
