PLEASE SHARE IVF PROCEDURE OR ANY SUCCESS

Hi there

i just had a BFN after my first icsi/ivf cycle. It was a chemical pregnancy.

Any one have any tips on improving sucess when moving on to round 2?
Does anyone perhaps know if one can even conceive after a chemical pregnancy?

After numerous procedures and two failed AI's, I found out both my fallopian tubes were damaged. I had IVF done in 2007 and thank God it was a success first time around. They transferred 4 embryo's and only one attached. My LG is now 2 yrs old. I have 6 frozen embryos and we'll be trying again next year.

Sunrise, I had to come to terms that what ever that was meant to be, will be, I knew that I would have children, I just never knew when it would happen, I eventually understood what it meant to have real faith and put all my trust in God.

Dh and I often asked the same questions, why us, why can we not have children if there are other ladies who dont look after themselves, smoke, drink and dont have problems with concieving. Every night I went to bed without any smiles, no hope and just plain depressed how it was until I changed my attitude, it was a big weight lifted off my shoulders, when I got my first bfp ever, I remember lying in bed with a smile on my face and I said to dh I forgot what it was like to fall asleep with a smile on my face.

You will have have your baby, just take each day as it comes with your treatment and thereafter.

Alot of the girls here love Dr Pentz, so Im sure you will be happy there, good luck! Less than a week till you see him!

@Chris I'm just speechless, I feel so emotional right now after reading your post. I salute you woman of God, what a journey but at least all the injections was worth it. You the most blessed lady I love triplets/twins so much. I really would not mind to do the procedure and concieve trips.

Well I'm seeing Dr. Pentz on the 28th of July I'll ask him evrything and see which IVF he's gonna suggest.


At times I just wonder why God is giving kids to people who don't need them. Lot of people who are needy they've got kids.

Please note that you 'must' discuss with your FS which IVF needs to be done as there are quite a few, more aggressive as they go up. You might not have to do the aggressive ones, but that is somethignthat you and dh must discuss.

Sunrise dear, have you decided what you going to do?

There are different types of IVF, confirm with your FS which one he recommends, we did the IVF-ICSI.

I think first and foremost you have to know, as with IUI, there is a possibility of it not working the first time, normal and general is we do it for +-3 tries, but if there is an unexplained infertility there is a chance of it working first try, also age makes a difference in it working first time or not.

I think if you are like me, you would do anything, so prepare yourself, you will have to inject yourself, my dh couldn't do it for me, but I preferred doing it on my own, you will feel like a human pin cushion, but you will feel like superwoman at the same time, it is strange, but being women, we can handle many things if not everything.

Im going to break down what I had to do, they might do it different with you/different meds etc, depends ont he FS and you as an individual and also your cycle.

CD1 - BCP continue pack
CD21 - injection A at 6pm (same time everyday!)
continue injection A until told to stop
(next cycle)
CD2 - injection A plus injection B
CD3 - injection A plus injection B
CD4 - injection A plus injection C
CD5 - injection A plus injection C
CD6 - injection A plus injection C
CD7 - injection A plus injection C
CD8 - injection A plus injection C
CD9 - Scan follies, injection A plus injection C
CD10 - injection A plus injection C
CD11 - injection A plus injection C
CD13 - Scan follies, injection D at 10pm(ovidrel shot)
CD14 - injection free day, YAY!!
CD15 - at the clinic for egg aspiration.
here they give you pethadine and you are sort of out of it, you dont feel much, but you do feel a bit uncomfortable, you have to take the day off work and have someone drive you there and back home.
DH needs to give sperm sample first thing also this morning as they will fertilise your eggs the same day. (They will keep you updated as to when you need to go back to do the embryo transfer).
CD16 - start cyclogest, 3x daily, 6am, 2pm, 10pm
CD17 - embryo transfer
and then the dreaded 2ww, you will go for bloods, we were told to go after 12 days.

Continue Cyclogest up til 12w. No intercourse until you find out if its + or -, and if it iss +, no intercourse for a further 8w or until told otherwise by FS.

So that is a breakdown of how it went, you can read my blog on how it went and emotionally, might be of help, might not, I should go back and read what I had wrote.

Emptionally I was fine,there was one day that (second CD5) where I thought to myself I cant do this, how am I going to this and it was just because you might see blood when you inject yoourself, which i wasn't aware of, and that was the first time I did and I got a bit worried, knowing it was fine, but we're human, but the very next day it was fine, I counted down the days and actuallylooked forward to doing the injections, but I think that was because I knew it was "another one down, few more to go".

All in all, you can do this, if you have managed to get through the previous dr's and FS appointments, every month knowing that it is not your time, then you cann do it.

I think I prayed so much for it to work that i believed it would work, God helped me alot, and read up about it, read other blogs, So Close by Tertai Albetryn is a good one to start off with.

What scared me the most was spending the money to do it with the possibility of it not working.

What did I do differently after ET, I became lazy! I was lucky that I did my ET on a friday, so I went home afterwards and just lay down, only got up to go to the loo, drank lots of water, the wekend was pretty much the same, I did nothing, I went to church on the Sunday, went to clicks and got meds and that was it.
Then went back to work , came home and rested, I wasn't as lazy, but I did still take it very easy. DH andi laugh now that I probably took it tooooo easy hence the triplets.
