question-circle Postive opk day 21 and 22?

16 years 1 month ago #97373 by skitterling
I went to the gynie at 4DPO and the egg was clear, present and there. So she said the chances for conception is really good. I thus asked her why I tested +on OPK 4 days ago and not yet since

The answer was that you ovulate the first time you get a + you have to stop testing because the rest will not be that accurate.

Hope this makes sense, but I would advice you to not test again after +

HI

I am not sure but it seems to happen to quite a few people. Is the line darker than the test?

I am not that clued up on OPK tests to be honest. I did daily blood tests and let the fertlity clinic figure it out. lol

My question to you is why would you be testing again if you got a positive on day 16? Try to limit testing to ovulation time and if you get a positive stop testing after that as you are just going to stress yourself out.

I personally wish opk tests were not available or were really expensive as they seem to just cause confusion and stress. I also think that it is fine to do it for a month or two to determine when ovulation occurs for you etc, but then you should stop doing it after that. At the clinic when you are on a home plan they do all the ovulation tests the first month, then you are given a plan that shows when you usually ovulate and you use that. They say all the testing etc just causes so much stress for you and lets not forget your partner.

Keep it simple and if you are having sex 3 time a week which is the only way to make a baby then you should catch ovulation providing you are ovulating. I think that couples are so disconnected these days that they use opk tests etc to determine ovulation becuase they are not having frequent sex. If you are only having sex around ovulation you risk missing it completely as your egg is only viable for about 12 hours.

The first thing the clinic asks is how often you have sex. If you say you have been trying for a year and have sex 3 time a month they may feel that your fertility issue is realted to infrequent sex and nothing more. If you can say we have sex 3 times a week and have been for more than a year, that would be a different story completely.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Julz!!

Just one other thing, why would the test show a definate positive on day 16, and then again on day 20 and 21?

I really appreciate your help!

Hi there

It is possible for you to ovulate on day 20 but if your cycle is still 29 days long (wait to see when af arrives which I hope it wont)then it means that the second phase of your cycle is very short which could be the reason for you not concieving yet. If this is the case and maybe give it another month of opk's to test the theory then you should chat to your gynae as it means you could have a small problem with your hormones.

Make a note of your opk positive dates, then record day 1 of af for the doc and do another cycle with opk's and record that. You may also want to consider charting your temps which would then help to confirm ovulation and is quite accurate.

You may just have an off month. I think that sometimes the whole ttc and tests etc tend to stress us out and can have an impact on our cycle.

Best of luck to you. xxx

Hi there!

I hope some of you can shed some light for me here!
This is the very first month (after ttc for 13 months) that I have started using ovulation tests.

As my cycles are always 29/30 days, I started testing at day 13.
It was negative, until day 16 (test band same as control).
Then I continued testing, just for interest sake.

Was negative day 17, 18 and 19.

THEN, day 20, a very dark positive (test band daker than control), and the same happend on day 22!

Yesterday, day 23, negative. (Test line still there, but a little lighter than control).

Is it possible that I could have only ovulated on day 22???

Very confused!

The only thing that I did different this month, was taking Inofolic.
Thank you!!
