Losec has a horrible taste. dont use more than 5ml of water with it. so that it is in quickly. on a spoon will be a waste. they need to swallow before the taste hit the tongue.

I used Gaviscon with my Son who had severe Reflux and it worked. They Pead said i must give it after the feed so that it thickens ontop of the stomach contents. He said no more than 6mls in total per day so I can 1ml with each feed and hoped for the best for the remaining 2 feeds. I never used Losec. If you are using an AR Formula like Novalac then your really shouldn't be needing gaviscon as well beceuse that thickens instantly in the stomach and stays down. I have been crucified before on this forum for saying Gaviscon works because apparantly it's not the best to give to babies but it worked very well for me and my Son.

My 3 week old despises the taste of the gaviscon, so its one thing we just dont give her.

Instructions from hospital are 1.5ml 6 hourly, but sister at clinic suggested 0.5mls with food.

I have given up though cos she takes so much medicine by syringe that she fights them all, and cant add another one.

Interested in the Sister Lillian's range, except that tablets dissolved leave a grainy texture which causes her to choke on and throw up the meds and we start from scratch.

try giving the med on a spoon. I have been battling with my 6mnth to take laxette everyday.

then i discovered he love bitting on the spoon (his plastic feeding spoon) and giving med with a spoon is now a breeze.
He is busy teething and just enjoy bitting on the spoon and dont care of the meds we giving at night.

hope it works...

i have used both and losec works much better.

you have to get it into her system. put it in a syringe hold spray in her mouth and blow in her nose, she will swallow. i know its cruel but it works.

Afternoon Ladies, i need your help. My LG is 5 months old and she is on 20mg Losec Mups a day - 10mg morning and night. She has however lately learnt the trick of spitting it out which is not helping with the reflux.

I phoned my Paed and said i should try giving her 2ml Gaviscon 3 x a day.

Has anyone else used Gaviscon and is it as effective as Losec?

Another question too - has anyone used the Sister Lilian range - i see they also have a reflux tablet and i want to know if it is effective and how long does it take before it starts working.
