Ok this braun ear thermometer sounds great thinking of buying thanks ladies

I use the Braun ear thermometer - I only bought it when Isabelle was a baby, and I kick myself that I did not buy one from 1st child onwards.

It is unbelievable, accurate, and works quickly and also keeps a history which is great as you fall around bleary eyed.

I have the braun ear one - expensive though, thankfully it was gifted to us. Takes all of a second.
In the instruction manual it even mentions that temps can differ from one ear to the other so good idea to get an idea of your child's healthy temps.
Re. age, for <3 months you have to pull the lobe down before taking temp, but >3months must pull the lobe down and back to get an accurate reading.

Our paed used the forehead one until Dylan was 3 months old. This is because the ear therm. is only accurate from 3 months as the device doesn't fit their ear before then so even a regular therm would be better. Once baby is 3 months old the ear therm. is awesome.

The braun is wonderful.

Hi, I used the forehead thermomter but according to my Paed you must add 1 degree on.

I have also been told the ear themometer is the most accurate.

Dischem sells a nice ear thermometer from Braun - it is small and compact for R289.99 otherwise they have their own make for R199.99 which also works very well.

I bought an ear themometer for my LB and it works like a bomb. But now I got the same Chico one at my babyshower for my LG and i must say its easier to use. And I get the same reading as with the ear one (differs less than 0.2 degrees)

So i think they are both very accurate, and like the rest of the people say, get to know your babies normal temp and if it is 1.5 above that, then they have a fever. Doesn't matter which way you normally use, just as long as its the same way so that you'll know if it is any different from your normal readings.
