I chatted to my paed about this last week after we were told to suppliment by someone else and he said there is lots of debate about it.

He pointed out that if you baby is being given a good healthy diet there is actually no reason why you have to suppliment them.

A good formula provides all the essential nutrients although at 6 months solids should be introduced to provide the much needed iron etc.

I think we tend to look to pills to do this for us when ideally healthy eating is the best way to get the nutrients.

It is also important to note that for some kids they could cause added problems. Take Dylan for eg who suffers from constipation. Adding iron could cause more issues.

Our paed basically said you are spending alot to get expensive pee because that is where most of these vitamins land up. They are waterbased so it mostly goes straight through them. Rather spend the money on the best formula you can.

liver is also rich in iron.

Hi, I give my lo Vidalin - contains all the essential vitamins and minerals. Just be careful not too give to many vitamins / iron supplements - not good for them and can lead to constipation. If your lo is on solids, try and include iron rich veg in their diet

Vidalyn is also very good and high in iron.

Hi there Roxy... Ann Richardson - co Author of the Baby sense book suggests the Floradix Iron supplement... careful though of too many vitamins for a baby ... they tend to get constipated.

If baby is eating solids now try also feeding iron enriched foods!

In the Baby Sense book is says that from 6 months you need to start giving baby a iron supplement as the Formula alone is not enough.

Any ideas which supplement i can give baby.
