file How did you cope going back to work?

16 years 2 weeks ago #111769 by Adri
I found the first day very hard, almost packed my bags and told my boss I'm not coming back.

But I love working and know I'd go mad staying at home permanently. I just wish I could find a happy medium like my own business, part time job or work from home.

Now, a month later and it's a bit easier. I still miss my LG during the day though and can't wait to get to her afte work.

Key is to know she's happy with the care she's getting through the day. If it wasn't for this I would have given up my lifestyle to be with her during the day.

you dont cope to be honest ... its more forced as i really wanted to be a SAHM... or work half day ... none of those were options so FORCED!!!

Its very hard i must say... i got back to work after 6 months of maternity leave ... i think it was even worse for both of us. Work was in a tiz and everyone was in a bad mood when i returned. It was hell. I cried every single day... i wanted to leave work but i also need the $$$

I still count down the hours left in the day for when i pick up Gia from school in the afternoon.

I am happier at work. Work peeps are happier. I stated my working hours to my boss, the CEO, and got it approved.

7 months on ... its so much better :P

I still love my job but i love my baby more... it has worked out fine!

I didn't cope! Sorry to say but I totally freaked out!

In the end I had to cope with it as I had no other choice. But it meant having a nanny that I trusted, and setting out everything the night before so that I wouldn't be rushed in the morning.

Good luck!!!

Sorry that you maternity leave is coming to an end.

I actually liked going back to work. I think key is that you enjoy your job and that your lo is being well cared for. As long as you have peace of mind that the daycare/nanny etc is fine you will be okay and as long as you enjoy your work you will have less guilt etc.

I guess for me it wasn't an issue as I always knew I would be a working mom.

Urgh, it's terrible. I still hate going to work, 15 months later. I took Eglonyls. Not only for milk supply but to curb the blues of going back to work. I got terribly depressed when I got back to work but it eased over time. I'd still like to be home, though.

:( Sorry to hear your maternity leave has come to an end!
I found the last couple of days before going back to work were terrible! But once I actually got to work is wasn't as bad as I had imagined. Definately not easy but I coped!
Are you going back full day or starting off half day?
I was thrown straight back into full day!
Will be thinking of you tomorrow, know how it feels
