Toptots vs Kindermusik

We attended a Kindermusik demo and I think it REALLY depends on the teacher and class. There was only one other boy in our class, my LG was 10 months old and he was 18 months old... big difference at that age. LG wasnt even crawling properly and LB was running around and singing! You have to look around and find the right group for you!

We were still going to join, and I was hoping more kids would join, because there wouldnt be too much socialising if it was only 2 kids, but then LG got sick, then teacher was sick and so we never went back. Now that I am pregnant, I think we should do something just for LG, but I also dont know what. I liked the music part, because my LG just LOVES music, and her DH is into music and used to be in a band. So maybe I must wait and try a real music school sometime later?

We did kindermusik. It was wonderful when Dylan was very young, but more difficult when he started walking as he was then in a class with kids up to age 3 who could sit longer so it just seemed as if we were going to the class for him to run around and lick the walls (no idea why he liked to lick the walls there).

It did set an amazing foundation for him in terms of music but other general fine motor skills too.

I changed classes and the new teacher wasn't great to be honest so we stopped going, but I think he would enjoy it.

It isn't just about music. They do lots of other things too.

Are there any moms out there that attended both that can give me their thoughts?

We have done one term of Toptots (we were 3 friends with our babies that did Toptots together). My one friend feels that Toptots is too similar to Practica (they have invested in Practica and so have we.) So we can rather do the Practica activities with them ourselves...

We are not continuing with Toptots at this stage, but I feel quite strongly about the importance of interaction with other babies / kids. We have investigated Kindermusik (I have attended two demo classes with two different instructors, my friend went with to the one demo class).

I would just like to hear other mommies' thoughts on either or both...
