So basically I should start worrying bout drooling when my baby is a toddler.
For now he's just being a baby.

A referral to a specialist ENT might be the trick - he might not be able to do anything, but it might be good just to let him be looked at.

My son was also one of those kids who had constant ENT problems, but it was set off by the amount of saliva and it was draining into his ears and his throat at night.

But little kids are generally snotty this time of year, so try not to be too concerned.

See I don't think my guy does swallow saliva, plus he has constant blocked nose issues and tends to breath through his mouth. I keep telling DH that we should have it looked at but he thinks I'm a worry-wart. i'm actually going to get a referral from our paed at the next visit. Thanks RM!

Tess_S - When my son started pre-school and I looked at him in comparison to the other kids. None of them were drooling, and they managed to have dry chins. My son had never had a dry chin, and I felt a bit embarrased (for him) that he was wearing a bib permanently.

So initially I just removed the bib, and accepted the wet shirt. When he started pre-primary in Grade 0 (the one before Grade R) I realised that he has speech issues and he had to actually consciously remember to swallow saliva, rather than it being a natural thing he did.

Initially I started speech therapy to help him get his tongue in his mouth and working properly and then added OT that also worked on those areas.

I probably did more than another mother would in the situation, but I was concerned about him being delayed for Grade R and his birthdya is in December, so he was the youngest in his class by 10 - 11 months in some cases, so he needed assistance.

Hi RM - my 2 yr old is still a major drooler. How did you decide to take him for treatment? I thought that once he started talking that he would be better, but not so much. He is the only child in his play school that wears a bib all day. Though I have bought him those bandana bibs so he doesn't look so babyish.
