Dewald is 5 months and a bit, he started teething around 3 months. He already has his bottom two teeth and is busy cutting his upper two now. I gave him Vidal Teething powders when he cut his bottom two. I also let him bite on a cold teething ring, biscuits and flings. I know I will be crucified for it, but it worked for me, and Dewald was happy.

It is a perfectly normal milestone that she has reached called mouthing. At her age babies start putting EVERYTHING in their mouths, I used to say that Brandon did not know what it looked like until he had had a good taste, lick and a nibble of whatever was in his hand.

But for drooling you can try a Baltic Amber Teething necklace, these reduce drooling drastically and help with imflamation later on when she does start teething, otherwise there is not much you can really do except put a plastic backed bib on her and a bit of vaseline on her chin to help prevent a dribble rash.

As for helping with the pain of teething, TeeGel did the job for Brandon, but nothing for Liam - all that workd for him was Prodol.
But try avoid medicating unless necessary as their bodies do build up a resistance to it.

For itchy gums you can try cold teething rings, rough textured toys, and when she is a bit older, baby biltong and ice lollies. You also get a textured dummy which worked with Liam, but Brandon hated them, so you need to see what your child likes / dislikes.

My LG started with itchy gums and "Teething" early too, but only got her first tooth just before her first birthday.... she now has number 5 and 6 almost out, so its been fast since then.

But... honestly... I am still looking for something that really works. I have tried just about everything. So I'll be interested to see what can be done.

At an early age, I found Teegel worked for a while. But she semed to get used to that and now I use Prodol sometimes, but I am not sure it really helps. Patience....

Good luck!

Hi,

Just wanted to know from you moms what worked and was effective for you when your infant started drooling alot more and you noticed they started suckling more too with there fists due to itchy gums? My Sani is 3months and I bought the Ashton & Parsons infant powder 'n it seemed to sooth the itchyness for a bit but she still crabby, poor baba :( But yes, she still young so there's only so much I can give her...
