I went to stay with my family for two weeks when my lb was three days old and I had a c-sec. It was wonderful being with my family and having so much help and support. It was such a special time and I was so lucky that everyone was off at the beginning of January to be able to spend time with us.

I flew to Mauritius when Kamilah was only 4 weeks old and made the trip all right. I was also recovering from a csec then and I went to stay at my mom's place in Mauritius. The trip went well.

I flew back when she was 3 months old and the trip also went fine then.

It is possible to go on holiday and if you are getting help with the toddler then thats a bonus :)

I agree with Julz - rather keep your options open and see how you feel then. It probably also depends on how close to the 18th you have your baby.

I would not have felt like packing myself and baby up 6 days after my c-sec. It is lots to pack and I think it would have stressed me out completely. Also, baby will just be getting used to his/her new environment and having that changed so soon might be a bit overwhelming for him/her. So rather see how you feel at the time.

Maybe you should keep your options open and see how things before making plans. That is quite soon to travel after such an op so see what your body is like and how your new baby does. Good luck.

We took our LB to PTA (from CT) by car when he was two weeks old, he slept most of the way. We took the train back and he absolutely loved it!

I do however have a wonderful gadget that I would not have been able to do without...baby city sells a lighter socket bottle warmer-works like a charm!

I've seen people taking their babies on holiday. Perhaps if your family will be helpful and understanding, it might work and you can get some rest.

For me personally I don't go on holiday until my kids are at least 2 years old. Might sound silly, but it doesn't work for me. With Kayla I tried and I was more tired / stressed than anything else. Everyone else is having a party while you are struggling with an unhappy child who is not his / her own environment / don't like the wind / don't like the sand / wants to be carried / needs the toilet / have a dirty nappy etc. etc. etc.

what is the youngest age you have taken a newborn on holiday? my second baby is due in December (11-18) and my in-laws want us to jion them at their holiday home in Plet for chrismas. also they said that way they can help to look after my toddler.

can not decide if this is a good idea or very bad? also i would be recovering from a c-section. any thoughts?
